Hisaronu – Popular Excursions

Hisaronu’s location means there are plenty of great attractions all within easy reach of this popular tourist village. Whether you’ve got a hire car for the duration of your holiday in Hisaronu, or you’re relying on public transport, you’ll find many of the popular excursion destinations can be reached with ease.

Oludeniz
Hisaronu became popular as a satellite village to Oludeniz because building on the beautiful Oludeniz coastline has been restricted. Now Hisaronu is a popular tourist resort in its own right, but the beauty of Oludeniz still makes this a very worthwhile excursion destination.

Oludeniz is most famous for its Blue Lagoon. Surrounded by pine clad mountains, this is truly one of the most beautiful places in Turkey, if not the world. The long beach that shelters the lagoon is part of the conservation area and you’ll need to pay a very small entrance fee to be able to enjoy it, but it’s well worth the price. The calm waters of the lagoon are perfect for tourists with younger children as you know they can play safe.

You can also make use of the village beach for free, this is sometimes a little quieter than the lagoon beach, but the sea is rougher here.

While you’re visiting Oludeniz why not take one of the boat trips that are offered from the village. No holiday in Hisaronu would be complete without at least one boat trip and there are numerous ones available. Visit secluded coves, deserted islands with ancient ruins, and valleys famous for their butterflies! There are regular dolmus’s from Hisaronu to Oludeniz and back.

Kayakoy
A holiday in Hisaronu would also not be complete without visiting the nearby ghost town of Kayakoy. This is a genuine ghost town that’s been deserted since 1923 when the Christian Greeks who were living here had to move to Greece as part of the forced population exchange between Greece and Turkey. The Turks decide not to live here themselves and now it’s being preserved as a historical site. There are hundreds of empty and ruined homes and a couple of nice churches to see. Visit by dolmus from Hisaronu, just a few miles away, or walk it if you’re feeling energetic!

Organised Excursions
While you’re on holiday in Hisaronu you can also take advantage of numerous organised excursions that are available. There are many great places to visit in the region including ancient cities, and you don’t just have to travel by bus or coach. Paragliding from the nearby Babadag is an amazing experience, offering some of the best paragliding in the world. Jumping off this high mountain you’ll gently soar above the coastline, enjoying spectacular views; and if you’ve never paraglided before don’t worry you could do a tandem flight!

With so many winding forest roads to explore, and mountain villages to visit, you could go on foot or on bicycle, but a more exhilarating way is by jeep! This is another popular excursion from Hisaronu.
