No holiday in Gumbet, or Turkey for that matter, is complete without enjoying a spot of shopping! The best thing about shopping in Gumbet is that you have the opportunity to shop for some great bargains, and of course there’s always the opportunity to buy items for a lower price when you haggle with the seller!
Where to Shop in Gumbet
Gumbet has a good selection of shops that are well geared towards visiting tourists. You’ll find there’s easy access to shopping no matter where you’re staying in Gumbet, but especially in the streets at the centre of the village just behind the beach. Here the shops are interspersed with restaurants and bars, making for a lively shopping experience. Most of the shops are open until the early hours of the morning, and there are some that even stay open all night.
Gumbet also has markets – on a Tuesday the craft market is the ideal opportunity to pick up some souvenirs of your holiday in Gumbet, and to buy some presents for friends and family back home. The Friday market is dedicated to selling fruit and vegetables, so if you’re staying in self catering apartments in Gumbet this is a great place to stock up on your fruit and veg.
Shopping in Bodrum
With Bodrum being so close by you can also make the most of the many shops in this larger town. It’s less than 2 miles to Bodrum from Gumbet and you can get there by dolmus or taxi very cheaply. Bodrum has even more shops than Gumbet and the ones in the older part of the town that line the narrow streets are a lot of fun to explore.
What Can You Buy in Gumbet?
Whether you’re shopping in Gumbet or nearby Bodrum there are always certain items that are popular to buy in Turkey. Clothing is very well priced and of a good quality and you’ll often find designer name clothes at great prices, though they’re fakes of course! Leather goods are usually very reasonable in Turkey too, and high quality gold and silver jewellery is affordable. Don’t forget to pick up some Turkish Delight to take back to workmates or family!
