Eating Out in Fethiye

As a sizeable town there’s certainly no shortage of restaurants in Fethiye. Though a popular tourist destination Fethiye has retained its more traditional Turkish feel and so offers some excellent examples of Turkish cuisine.

Turkish Cuisine in Fethiye
What sets this tourist destination apart from others in the region is the more traditional Turkish cuisine that’s primarily served here. This is one aspect of Fethiye that’s likely to appeal to holidaymakers who don’t want to see a British pub on every street, and prefer a more authentic holiday in Fethiye. Those of you who do prefer to stick to what you know shouldn’t avoid Fethiye altogether though, as there is still a good selection of restaurants serving international cuisine too.

Fethiye is particularly well supplied with ‘pideci’ (pide restaurants), so this is something of a local specialty. Most will also serve a good selection of kebabs and other meat dishes too.

International Cuisine in Fethiye
There are a number of restaurants in Fethiye that serve British dishes, these places are just a little understated compared to those in Marmaris for example! You’ll often find a restaurant that serves British and Turkish cuisine even if they don’t necessarily have it on the menu. While on holiday in Fethiye you’ll find the Turks are very accommodating people, so if there’s something you particularly want and it’s not on the menu, 9 times out of 10 they’ll be happy to do it for you anyway.

Fethiye also has a Chinese restaurant, and an Indian, so plenty of different food choices are available.

Where to Eat in Fethiye
Fethiye’s restaurants are scattered around the town though there are several more popular spots you could choose from, depending on your budget, and the view you want. If you’re staying on holiday in Fethiye for a few weeks you’ll have plenty of chance to try out the different areas!

Along the waterfront and harbour are some excellent cafés and restaurants. These of course treat you to some wonderful waterside views, out across the bay and to the surrounding mountains. With the view comes a heftier price tag, though many diners would argue that it’s worth it!

The Old Town has a very good selection of restaurants too, interspersed with bars and shops. Dining here can be quite varied and usually has a good atmosphere. You could also try eating out at one of the restaurants surrounding the fish market. Here you can buy your own fish at the market and have the restaurant cook it for you, or let them do the buying if choosing your own fish makes you a little squeamish!
