Eating Out in Bodrum

Some holidaymakers prefer to stick to foods they know and love while on holiday, but if you’ve never tried Turkish cuisine you really should make the effort in Bodrum! This town has some excellent restaurants, suitable for a whole range of budgets and tastes.

Turkish Cuisine in Bodrum
Turkish cuisine can be extremely tasty, and it’s varied too. Contrary to popular belief, most Turkish food is not spicy; only the odd few dishes will have a kick, so this should not be a problem for most tourists. Meat and many different types of kebabs are always popular and are usually served with a salad plus either rice or chips, and pizzas or traditional ‘pides’ are popular too. The best food to try on Turkey’s Aegean Coast is fish and seafood. These waters have been fished for thousands of years and are still producing some wonderful fish and seafood. Whole grilled fish is a popular dish, served with plenty of fresh bread, and if you like aniseed you should order a glass of Turkey’s favourite spirit, Raki! Calamari and octopus are other popular dishes, and are usually exquisite.

Where to Eat in Bodrum
Restaurants serving meat and kebabs can be found just about everywhere in Bodrum. Seafood restaurants aren’t quite as common, but if you head down to the harbour area you can’t go wrong!

The restaurants lining the marina and harbour will give you some excellent views, though predictably these do tend to be more expensive than restaurants that are inland. If you don’t want to overspend why not try a selection of Bodrum’s restaurants for the majority of your holiday then plan to eat in one of the harbourside restaurants on your last night?

International Cuisine in Bodrum
Bodrum has an excellent selection of restaurants, not just those serving Turkish food and seafood. You will find a number of restaurants that are obviously targeting the British holidaymakers, offering English breakfasts and more traditional British foods, but these aren’t as obvious in Bodrum as they are in Marmaris, for example. Bodrum restaurants also include other international cuisines, so if you fancy something different you can choose from Spanish, Indian, Chinese, and Italian.
