Off the Beaten Track in Turunc

Turunc, on the Aegean Coast of Turkey, is fairly off the beaten track itself! This small village still retains a traditional charm and with its handful of hotels, restaurants and bars it makes a great alternative for a Turkish holiday. What appeals to many visitors about a holiday in Turunc is the relative isolation; you reach the village via a mountain road that winds its way down through pine forests, treating you to spectacular coastal views along the way.

When you reach Turunc Bay you know you’re going to enjoy spending days on the beach, maybe partaking in a few water sports, or simply sitting back, relaxing and sunbathing.

Amos Bay and Kumlubuk Bay
As wonderful as a holiday in Turunc is, there are still many miles of coastline waiting to be explored, and just a few miles away from Turunc are two more beautiful bays that are a little further off the beaten track.

The road heading south down the Bozburun Peninsula brings you first to Amos, and second to Kumlubuk. You can get here either by dolmus from the centre of Turunc, or drive yourself if you’re renting a car while on holiday in Turunc. It’s only about ten minutes drive, and the bays at Amos and Kumlubuk are just as pretty as Turunc Bay. The advantage is that these are a little more off the beaten track so they have less visitors arriving in boats, or via the fairly remote roads.

Kumlubuk Beach is actually stated to be the best beach on the Bozburun Peninsula, so if you enjoy lazy days on the beach then this is the place to come!

Hiking in the Mountains
You might also get to see some great views of some of Turkey’s pristine bays from up in the mountains that surround Turunc. These pine clad mountains are screaming out to be explored, and what better way to do so than on foot? The soft scent of pine on a warm summer day makes hiking a real pleasure. Take a picnic with you and make a day of it while you’re on holiday in Turunc!
