Shopping in Oludeniz

Oludeniz is renowned for its beautiful Blue Lagoon and stunning scenery all around, and let’s face it, these are the reasons why so many people come on holiday to Oludeniz. Though the town has plenty in the way of essential shopping, for the best choice you’re better off visiting one of the nearby tourist towns.

Where to shop in Oludeniz
Oludeniz does have a good smattering of shops so if you’re keen to stay within the confines of the village you will find places to buy souvenirs. For those of you staying in a self catering apartment in Oludeniz there are also places to buy food and drink. Many stores will sell a limited supply of both but for better choice and better prices head to the supermarket, Dia, as they have a good choice and accept credit cards if you want to stock up for the duration of your holiday in Oludeniz.

Shopping in Hisaronu and Fethiye
For some serious shopping you’re probably better off visiting nearby Hisaronu, or a little further away Fethiye. Hisaronu is perched up the hill from Oludeniz and is easily accessible via regular dolmus services or opt for a taxi if you prefer. This lively little town has a good selection of shops, as well as bars, discos and restaurants, so you could stay for the evening after an afternoon of shopping.

Fethiye is also accessible via dolmus and this larger market town has a very good choice of shops, and of course a market. The Tuesday market is popular, as is shopping in the historic bazaar near the waterfront.

Remember to always haggle for the items you want to buy as you can usually knock the price down somewhat from the first price you’re given. Haggling isn’t something that everyone likes to do, though the sellers honestly expect you to, so give it a go!

What can you buy in Oludeniz?
As with most of this Southern Coast of Turkey there are several goods that Oludeniz and nearby Hisaronu and Fethiye are famous for. Silver and gold jewellery is normally very well priced, as are leather goods. Carpets are popular though expect to pay a lot for one of real high quality. Cottonware is usually well priced and well made too, so look for t-shirts, socks, etc while on holiday in Oludeniz.
