Bodrum – Getting There

The beautiful port town of Bodrum is situated in the Aegean region of southwest Turkey, on the southern coast of the Bodrum Peninsula. Increasingly popular with tourists, this small town has grown substantially over the last few decades, and with the increase in tourists came better transport links. Now a holiday in Bodrum is even more attractive than before.
Milas-Bodrum Airport
Before Milas-Bodrum Airport (more commonly known as Bodrum Airport) was opened to international flights, tourists coming for a holiday in Bodrum had a long and tiresome transfer from either Dalaman or Izmir Airport. The opening up of Bodrum Airport now means you can fly here with numerous airlines and then expect a short transfer to your Bodrum hotel, once you’ve come through customs and immigration.
Bodrum Airport handles around 2.5 million passengers per year, so they are fairly well geared to handling many people, but do be prepared for a longer wait during the peak summer period.
Bodrum Airport Transfers
There are several ways for you to transfer to your hotel or apartment once your flight to Bodrum lands. The airport is far enough out of the town that you’re not constantly disturbed by the sounds of aircraft taking off and landing, yet at just 22 miles from Bodrum the transfer time is quick, and it’s scenic too!
There are private companies who offer airport transfers to Bodrum, or use the national Havas bus shuttle services. Taxis are always in abundance and can actually be quite reasonably priced for a trip into Bodrum, though make sure you check the price before heading off.
The final option for transfers to Bodrum is a hire car. Several of the major car hire companies are represented here at Bodrum Airport and if you’re planning to rent a car during your Aegean holiday anyway, this may be a cost effective option. For piece of mind, and usually the best rates, make sure you book your hire car in advance.
