sunbed reservations?

Postby ianwesty » 12 Aug 2008 13:05

Hi everyone,

Just got back from our yearly stay , report to follow but what is happening now is becoming increasingly sinister!
We arrived on saturday afternoon and after a few efes/swims at the apartments and our meals went to bed early to start the holiday off the next day. We always rise around dawn ( 0530hrs turkish ) and found that 12 of the apartments sunbeds had been "reserved" . Worrying I know because we scots thought this was a german thing! The next morning (0500) my wife Sharon couldn't sleep and was relaxing on a sunbed when around the corner came the nightwatchman....... and you've guessed it he had a bunch of towels in his hand and promptly laid them out on the beds ready for the days tanning. I would like fellow icmelerites to air their views on this subject. I say it is totally unfair and disrespectful to other guests and the bed reservations seem to also be done for people staying outwith the apartments. The owners of the apartments should make it very clear to guests that it can't and shouldn't be tolerated and nightwatchmen should be encouraged to remove towels that have been put down. I am sure this will evoke a lot of discussion.

My parent's stayed in Club Alize in Marmaris couple of years and if anyone put towels on sunbed's and then left them there the guys who worked around the pool would take them off and throw them into the pool!!Think that is what should be done it's not fair!!

My best friend is there for the summer and i stayed with her in July and we didn't rush down to the pool would go around 12ish and always found there was no sunbeds,we just thought it was because we was coming down so late. She then found out the other days people were waking up at 5/530 in the morning to reserve their sunbeds!!No wonder we never got 1!!

Hi

It is always happening at Captain Silver Apartments. No matter what time you get up ALL the sunbeds have towels on them (probably from the night before). Its disgusting. Most of the beds are not used at all, they just put their towels on them "just in case" they want to stay by the pool. In the whole two weeks we stayed there we couldnt stay by the pool once.

well i go on the 20th and if there is towels on the sunbeds at 5:30 am when i get up, they will be in the pool unless the is a person attached to it
towel dropping at 1 am when you come in from the night out is disgusting most of these people dont get up till dinner so why should they reserve a bed till then

in the pool :D

but i like the itching powder idea to

ps i only get up at 5:30 as its a habit from working :( not to go put towels out lol

Reserving sunbeds for people who are staying at the appts is bad enough but for people who are not staying there its downright insulting :x

This has happened at all the appts we have stayed so we have yet to find the perfect place (probably the Alvaro if it doesn't happen there)

We go down to the beach more often though because we like walking and you see different faces :)

I cant say I have ever come across this problem in Turkey, because I usually go May/June/Sept/Oct, maybe its more of a peak season thing, but I know from previous holiday in Spain, Greece etc, its so annoying.

Loving the itchy powder thing, good enough for them in my opinion.

Sunbeds

Postby Kevin & Carol » 12 Aug 2008 22:36

We stayed at The Captain Silver Apartments last August and are due there this weekend. The sunbed problem was the only negative point of the apartments and one that could easily be solved by The Managent. Prehaps ICR could mention it to the Owner :?:

Hi all
Re my prevous posts about itching powder, besides having seen it done, believe me it was" b----y hilarous",
It only needs the story to be spread about, and you watch the towels appear with the person who owns it and not over night on its own!
As a last resort if the story dont work, the "powder" applied to the most persistent individuals towels certainly will!!
So good hunting :>> Are you 2% on the poll reading this! [aparently its one person so happy scratching to you!!]

now this really annoys me...

this year people were just leaving there towells on the sunbeds, not even bothering to remove them at the end of the day.....

we heard a lady discussing setting her alarm for 5 am to wake her up to put her towells out,

and some people were putting 2 lots out, one lot in the shade and another lot in the sun!!!!!

I'm sorry, but how sad and pathetic do you have to be to set your alarm for some ridiculous time when you're on holiday just to go and put your towel on a sunbed??
I'm loving the itching powder suggestion though...what a devious mind to come up with that one!

That's exactly what was happening in our hotel in Icmeler last year.

A few years ago in Gumbet aswell we had a few very late nights at Hotel bar, when going to our room about 5am there were towels on sunbeds so were threw them in the pool

Hi Blondie
Re previous post on itching powder "devious mind" maybe, but it certainly stopped the towels appearing overnight, and I belive it was only used the once, which was the time we watched the three rather arrogant couples involved "inspecting" each other!! how we kept our faces strieght when they glanced around I dont know
And NO!! before anyone jumps to conclusions it wasnt me but every one around the pool was aware of what was going to happen.all this happened about 12yrs ago in Cyprus and they were English sad to say!

we have stayed in the mirage a few times and if we needed a bed we asked the waiters who would go to the empty beds and shout if anyone owned the towels and if he got no reply he would move them, this worked fine

Good thing about the Kurt Apartments everything was moved by the security guard at 7pm when he went out to clean the pool, and he came back in the mornings to do the gardening and he moved any towels that were put out before 9am.
