Boots extra strength repellent 50% DEET is the only way to go.
It's brilliant stuff, citronella is ok but it's DEET you want, it makes you invisible to the mozzies, citronella makes them think you're a plant and will still land on you and can still bite you.

It's on offer, 3 for 2 - well worth the money, given you the link to the pump spray as we found that to be best for us but it comes in a gel/lotion too, we found the spray lasts a lot longer and you can take it out with you at night and spray a bit under the table to get rid of any mozzies lurking under there - that's what I do.
Also have you heard that marmite contains a natural mozzie repellent ?? There's B vitamines in it which makes you give off an odour that the mozzies hate (don't worry only they can smell it lol) and they avoid you - works for me anyway.
The Mozzie bands are ok but we found they kept snapping off in the night so don't know it they work or not.
I go really OTT as I suffered terrible my first time abroad I was eaten alive and all the bites were severly infected and my legs ballooned up and I could hardly walk, I had to have antibiotics and special cream to cure it so I really go OTT now, I eat marmite everyday for 2 weeks before we go away and take a jar with us to eat whilst we're there, have a jungle formula plug in liquid repellent in our rooms, and use the Boots super strength repellent. I get the odd bite but in comparison to the amount I got first time 1 or 2 is nothing. I use a roll on after bite thing and I've still got some of the antibiotic cream from before that I put on just incase.
Can't recommend Boots Super Strength insect repellent 50% DEET enough it's brilliant stuff - even noticed it in one of the supermarkets out in
Icmeler last year.
