£100 for a private transfer is a little steep. I just book one of the many companies that do transfers. These cost typically around £30 in total for both the missus and I. Generally they use small minibuses and we have at times been the only ones on the transfer, others we have shared with 2/3 couples. They generally take around 1h 20/ 1h30 to Icmeler and I think is great value

As for a new airport I think this would be great, but with the down turn in the economy I think it would be unlikely

I use a transfer company too and last year we only had 3 drops in Marmaris before setting of to drop us in Icmeler.
On return, we were in a people carrier with 2 other couples and 1 single.
Both journeys were extra fast.
Boooked with same company this year and we are a group of 5, so hoping we won't have many drops.
The company tend to use mini bus or people carriers.
Another thought, if new airport does materialise, hope their prices are a bit better than Dalaman !!!!!! :D :( :D

One of my Turkish friends posted this on Facebook re a new airport:

Perhaps, just perhaps, this will happen and save us all the long journey from Dalaman to Icmeler. Mmmmm wonder how long it takes to build an airport

OK John. It was a front page shot from Milliyet newspaper saying there were plans for a new airport at a site between Marmaris and Cati, couldn't read the small print though, and been trying to see if I could get it online but no luck so far.
