Greetings to all from Icmeler, Marmaris - TURKEY

Well you have made it through the Winter although we understand snow is still with you over there and that you will definitely all be thinking of your Summer break with us now.

We have had some stormy times recently but today was beautiful and all that was missing in Icmeler town were our British friends to make us remember those long, lazy Summer days where we enjoyed the finest sights and sounds of Turkey. All the local characters are now out and about and we can feel the anticipation of a new Season about to start and in a few weeks time we will see many of our old friends return to spend their annual break with us.

Marmaris has been a hive of activity for the past few weeks, yes they do have a Council, and yes they do dig up the roads, so be thankful you have missed this bit, and please recommend this part of the world to any friends who have not yet sampled genuine Turkish Delight as we know from past experience that great friendships are made on these holidays and it keeps us all going through the long Winter months.

By the way Sunworshippers, there will be a total Solar Eclipse in Antalya on 29th March so visors at the ready and with fewer than 70 total eclipses per century, the chance to see one is a once-in-a-lifetime event so why not visit us early for another lasting memory..

Holiday Bookings 2006: On the rise again. Just when we all thought there was going to be a huge downslope on the number of people coming to visit Icmeler and Marmaris, the number of bookings in the past couple of weeks proves that this year may even be busier than last one.
As of today there is a slight decrease in the number of bookings in general for Turkey but with the high popularity of Icmeler as well as reasonable prices offered in the market, Icmeler may not be effected after all.

Taxing on Textile : 10% off taxes payable on textile goods therefore you will be seeing all types of clothes including leather and other textile products such as carpets and rugs at much cheaper prices this year.

Icmeler Web Cam: Online again for 2006 season. Hour restrictions do apply however it is on during most of the daylight hours but should be on 24hrs power cuts permitting.

Icmeler Forum: Over 1000 members and the first person to post 500 posts gets a free return transfer from IcmelerOnline.com...... The forum is starting to get a bit busier of late and we hope that you will all continue using this to ask all you questions on Icmeler and in fact anywhere in Turkey.

DEVELOPMENTS:

New Icmeler Pier: Situated on the far side of Icmeler bay past the Munamar and Marbas hotels and away from swimmers in the bay so cleaner and safer water for all, with construction to be completed before the opening of the 2006 season

Light House Apartments and Restaurant: The apartments are a new venture for the Lighthouse for the 2006 season but the Lighthouse restaurant is very well known and enjoyed by lots of Icmeler regulars so to book your apartment at the Lighthouse in the centre of town with views of the main square please be quick as it is filling up quickly.
Heat and Breeze Hotel and Restaurant: Formerly the Ermihan hotel and now being refurbished by its new proprietor Lee formerly of the Venice restaurant, this hotel will now boast a restaurant with nightly shows and anyone knowing the Venice will know the type of music and entertainment that Lee provided and with it being close to all amenities and the beach this is already proving very popular with holidaymakers
