Oludeniz off the track
Off the Beaten Track in Oludeniz

Surrounded by beautiful pine clad mountains the area around Oludeniz is simply breathtaking and deserves to be explored in more detail. If you’re prepared for a hike or a short drive there are plenty of places where you can go off the beaten track near Oludeniz.

Nature Trails
Those mountains surrounding Oludeniz and its beautiful Blue Lagoon are a great place to start your journey off the beaten track. Imagine those amazing views that are available once you get up a little way above the coastline! You’ll find there’s a good selection of hiking trails available so you can follow the paths. Take a picnic with you, and plenty of water as it can get very hot during the summer, and you could be out all day amongst the chirping crickets with not a person in sight!

If you have the energy to hike a little further make your way over the mountain and head towards the ghost town of Kayakoy. This is a fairly popular trail though, and the ghost town itself is one of the area’s popular tourist attractions, but it’s an enjoyable hike all the same.

The Lycian Way
Some might argue that the Lycian Way is not off the beaten track as this is fast becoming one of the world’s top long distance footpaths, but with the start of the trail being so nearby you might want to spend time exploring just a small section of the Lycian Way.

In total the Lycian Way is over 300 miles long so you’re unlikely to hike much of it if your holiday in Oludeniz is just a week or two! The trail officially begins in Hisaronu (just up the hill from Oludeniz), though there’s also a link from Fethiye too. Along the distance of the trail there are many villages and hamlets, many of which will usually never see tourists, plus ruins from different civilisations, and of course plenty of spectacular scenery, including the summit of Mount Tahtali – known as Olympos in ancient times.

Eating Off the Beaten Track
Oludeniz has a great selection of restaurants though during high season there’s no doubt they will be busy. If you want to find a quieter hideaway while on holiday in Oludeniz you can travel to nearby Kabak, about 9 miles along the coast from Oludeniz. Here you’ll find the Olive Garden and breathtaking views of Kabak Bay and beyond. If you’re walking some of the Lycian Way you may well come across this lovely little restaurant that serves quite an assortment of dishes including Turkish, Mediterranean, and more.
