Kumlubuk Information

Kumlubuk
Kumlubuk

Often stated to be the most beautiful and best beach on the Bozburun Peninsula in Southern Turkey, the peaceful village of Kumlubuk offers a wonderful getaway holiday destination for visitors who want to get away from it all and experience the real Turkish culture.

Where is Kumlubuk?
Kumlubuk is about 15 miles south of the popular and bustling resort town of Marmaris on Turkey’s Southern Coast. Though only 15 miles separates these two destinations a holiday in Kumlubuk is a world away from the hordes of tourists and typical Marmaris holiday experience. Kumlubuk remains fairly off the beaten track though it’s still easy to get to and is just a little further south of Turunc, another popular, though smaller alternative to Marmaris.

To reach your hotel in Kumlubuk you’ll need to catch a flight to Dalaman International Airport and transfer from there. It’s a fairly long journey but the reward at the end of the trip is well worth it!

Accommodation in Kumlubuk
Kumlubuk has truly retained its small village feel and so there are only a select few places to stay here. Because demand is high and supply is low, hotels in Kumlubuk get booked up quickly during the peak season so make sure you reserve your Kumlubuk hotel room as soon as possible.

Choices include the Verano Hotel which features swimming pool, restaurant, children’s activities, water sports and boat trips. Serendip Select Hotel is another option, while the The Dionysos is the best known Kumlubuk hotel and it features breathtaking views over the coast and a quiet, romantic ambiance that makes this an amazing place to spend a honeymoon.

What to See and Do on Holiday in Kumlubuk
If you’re looking for a relaxing place where you can sit back, enjoy the views, the great weather, and peace and quiet, then a holiday in Kumlubuk will suit you down to the ground! This is where holidaymakers come to get away from it all, and surrounded by beautiful pine clad mountains you will certainly feel as though you’ve found a real rural Turkish retreat. Even so, civilisation is never far away. The village has its own amenities, while just a short drive to the north brings you to Turunc, a larger village.

Relaxing on the best beach in the area, or taking a dip in your Kumlubuk hotel swimming pool could be as much as you do while on holiday in Kumlubuk, or you can get active and go out on a boat trip, or go hiking in the surrounding mountains. A half hour walk brings you to the ancient city of Amos (or get here by taxi or passing dolmus). You’ll be treated to some more excellent views and some ancient ruins including an amphitheatre and ruined temples.

If you want to visit Marmaris and its attractions the town is a 30 minute boat ride away, or travel by road. In Marmaris, attractions include the castle, the bazaar and many shopping, dining and nightlife options.

Shopping, Dining and Nightlife in Kumlubuk
A holiday in Kumlubuk is not intended for holidaymakers looking for a wild night out as the atmosphere here is very sedate and laid back in comparison to the vibrant nightlife of Marmaris and Icmeler. Evenings in Kumlubuk consist of a great meal in one of the fish restaurants on the waterfront. There are several restaurants here and they’re renowned for their wonderful fish, especially Dutch Ahmet’s Place. In terms of shopping you can pick up some bare essentials in Kumlubuk but if you’re looking for gifts and souvenirs of your Kumlubuk holiday you should travel a few minutes north by car to the village of Turunc which features a Monday market, or go all the way into Marmaris for countless shopping opportunities.
