Eating Out in Altinkum and Didim

Whether your holiday in Turkey is spent in Altinkum or Didim you’re close enough to both of these towns to be able to enjoy the range of restaurants that each one has. These include restaurants that are aimed squarely at the British tourists with a thorough range of British foods, to the traditional Turkish places, plus lots in between.

Altinkum Restaurants
As the busier of the two tourist towns you’ll find that Altinkum offers more restaurants that serve British food than Didim does. This is great for holidaymakers who like to stick to the foods they know because with such a focus on pleasing the British tourists you’re going to find all sorts of things to eat in Altinkum. From traditional Sunday roasts to fish and chips, restaurants in Altinkum have got British cooking down to a tee! There are many places that serve kids meals too, so if you’re on holiday in Altinkum with children you don’t have to worry about them not enjoying the food.

Not every restaurant in Altinkum is British oriented though. For those who prefer to try some of the more traditional Turkish cuisine you’ll find there are also some excellent restaurants serving this kind of food too. Popular dishes include varieties of ‘guvec’ – this is a dish that’s cooked inside a sealed clay pot. The pot is then brought to your table and broken open to reveal the tasty contents.

In addition to British and Turkish cuisines there are also Chinese restaurants in Altinkum if you fancy something different, plus those that serve a very wide variety of Mediterranean foods and seafood.

Didim Restaurants
Several restaurants in Didim are still aimed at British tourists though there are less here than on the streets of Altinkum. Eating out in Didim gives you more opportunity for enjoying an authentic Turkish cuisine experience, even though some restaurants in Didim still serve an excellent variety of foods that should suit most tastes.

There are some excellent ‘pide’ restaurants in Didim. Pide is similar to pizza but it’s Turkey’s own unique take on this popular Italian dish, and highly recommended for lunch or dinner.

Just opposite the ruins of Didyma there are several restaurants in Didim. The views over the ancient ruins of the Temple of Apollo as the sun sets are quite spectacular, making this a great place for a romantic meal for two. The prices are a little higher here than in the centre of Didim but if you want to enjoy a special meal this is a great place to do so.
