newbie, hope you dont mind me having my two penneth, because i too, love icmeler.
having reached 60 this year and spent most of my life playing music in bands and duos i think we should make some distinction between music and boom boom..i guess its my age, but would love to be able to spend more time in the evenings listening to live music,(which sadly there is a lack of in icmeler) and being able to converse at the same time, enjoy a drink a wee bit later than 12. having said that i agree with most views that if we are talking boom boom im quite happy to change it to 10 !!! i know most of the youngsters reading this will be saying old fart...i guess you are spot on but that is why i go to icmeler and not marmaris, if we can prevent or help prevent it becoming a little marmaris, let's do it.

Jirry, your completely right there is definately a lack of live music in Icmeler!!!!

I personally don't see why everyone is moaning about the bars that play loud music, surely the beauty of Icmeler is that there is something for everyone - if you don't like the loud music go to one of the quieter bars and if you do, the visit the bars that play loud music. Plus it's not just the younger generation that like loud music, my parents are in there 50's and they enjoy the music, I know they would like the music to carry on until one (well mum at least, dad doesn't care as long as he has plenty of efes lined up). I do understand that after 12, this might be a bit much in a family resort so it should be turned down considerably.

I honestly can't see why people would think Icmeler is becoming a mini marmaris / magaluf! There really are no similarties and it would have to change a hell of lot to even start becoming like those resorts.

If this is the law in the resort then so be it.How would we feel if visitors to our country started to petition on our laws, also the people that live there but may not work in the resturante and bar trade must hate late hights due to noisey bars. This is the charm of Icemeler and the reason we go back, have to agree with ken

I think the music off at midnight is good we went to gumbet one year and the music went on all night and the bang bang music was so loud we couldn't sleep at night so I think yes keep the law as it is
Last year in some of the bars at night after midnight still played music but down low and and you can still get a drink

Leave it as it is.

The main attraction of Icmeler is that the music goes off at 12, but you can still have a drink for a few hours after that.

Occasionally you may want to have an early night, and that is hard enough as you can hear the music until 12, it would be even worse if that went on until 1.

Then what next, have it on all night.

What with the stupid rules from the council making the restaurants move back, the hassle police getting worse and now this, I'm afraid this council seem like they want to turn Icmeler from the delightful gem it is, into just another place for all the dossers to go.

One of the reasons i picked Icmeler for a holiday this year was the very reason that the music stopped at 12 and it began to wind down i found this ideal ,great combination of enjoying the nitelife without it going on all night and the peace and quiet very much appealed to us both we are in our late 30's and love to go out and socialise but when its full on all night and you cant get a decent nights kip for all the rowdiness then it becomes a bit of a joke and after a week of that i need another holiday just to get over it  I say leave Icmeler as it is as other members have already said if you want the boom boom all night then its simple book Marmaris.

I have been visiting Icmeler now for 11 years and I would like to see the cut off time for the music extended by an hour or two as long as it wasn't too loud (this could easily be regulated). Sophia and bigdaddydawg, well written posts, I can remember Icmeler before the 12o'clock curfew was imposed and then the music level was reduced about 12 - 1a.m. but still playing in the background and this seemed to work really well. Since the midnight rule came in I have found that the atmosphere in the resort drops like a stone at 12 o'clock and people seem to feel obliged to drink up and go back to their accommodation - I know I do, so an extra hour or two of low level music would improve my holiday experience. I might add that I am not a 'youngun' - well, perhaps at heart! :D I have plenty more fortnights at home to have early nights but don't think I should have to go to Marmaris to get music after 12 as some have suggested.

the people that want loud music can go to the clubs as they are open til 4am
as long as the music isnt disurbing people that want to sleep then i dont think there should be a problem
xxxx

I agree with that

My first day on here, so don't want to come in guns blazing..... but......

Icmeler needs more live bands to change the samey styles of dancing and miming shows that are all across Turkey.

Let the bands / live duos and solos play at a decent volume until 12, but then maybe have some lower volume rock, pop, blues controlled by a dj. All off at 1am, then a quiet wind down till 2am.

I'm all for giving the local bar owners a chance to gain more revenue - it's a swine to struggle during a short season and not having free chance to up the takings!

Yes, I play in a band in England, and enjoy my live music, but not to spoil the fun and enjoyment of others !

Marmaris - no thanks, not my idea of fun, but let those who like it lively go there!!

Even on all inclusive, I like to go out and about to see something different to keyboard players serenading the old biddies set !

We will be visiting for the first time this year. I obviously can't comment on the impact the 12 o'clock rule has on Icmeler. In my younger days I had a lads holiday to Kardameda, Kos. They have a similar rule, except there are some nightclubs that can play music later, but they have to be soundproof. And they were, you couldn't hear a thing from outside (may go back to inspect the system they used and install between us and next door to drown out their teenage daughter).

The effect was, as some have described on this thread, that the open air bars where you could sit and relax, pretty much died at about 12.30. I am assuming the same is true in Icmeler. I hope my assumption is true, as this is the reason we have booked. I booked the flights to Dalman first, then tralled the Interweb for a resort. I am convinced I made the correct choice. Could have stayed in Marmaris, but chose not to.

I can understand the reason some people want an extension. Having a great night, wanting to stay out for another hour or so with some gentle background music. Aren't they the best nights, the ones you don't want to end. But, be careful what you wish for.

The idilic scenario of ICR forum members sitting enjoying some quiet music over a few extra Efes, would not happen. It is only now I have a family that I and travelling to Icmeler. I wouldn't have dreamt of it a few years ago. Surely this is one of the things that keeps Icmeler Icmeler.

Just my thoughts, and probably don't mean much to most as I haven't even been yet. I will not be signing the petition untill I return. If I don't see any club 18-30 reps, or Stag/Hen parties, I'll be signing against.
