The Dream

Postby redrhino12 » 27 Jul 2006 12:21

Its not really a Question or seeking advice on Icmeler just something I feel.

I suppose we have all at sometime had "The Dream" to move abroad to live and work.
In my case it was Icmeler but with most dreams there it ends with just "The Dream".

So I got to thinking about the young people and the opportunity to travel and work abroad that todays generation have and I would say grab the chance while you are young because as you get older responsabilities do not give you you the chance that the early years do.

You will make mistakes, but we make mistakes as we get older as well.

You will have your Ups and Downs, experience Love and Happiness but also Heart Break and Sadness.

But you will have tried, there is nothing worse than thinking,
"If Only I Had Done That When I Was Younger"

We would all like to "Live The Dream" but only the bold among us will try

I Once Had The Dream.

Hi Gene
Never a truer word said. Grab the bull by the horns and go for it, if you have the opportunity. As they say its not a rehearsal. Good luck Mel xx

Good luck anyone who tries it, I am very jealous! Wish I didn't have the responsibility and could do it all myself now. Let us know how you go......

You know what, Gene, i couldn't have put it better myself. When i was 20 you were lucky if you had the chance to see other countries except on the tv or in books and to meet a person of a different nationality was practically unheard of. i feel so lucky that i'm still young enough to visit other places especially icmeler and have a lovely time, but wouldn't it be great to be young again and live a life full of different experiences
it's true that travel broadens the mind, so all you young uns live while you can, its not a rehearsal its the real thing!!

I will always remember the words told to me when younger and these were.

"We Pass This Way But Once"

So Make the most of your chances in life and I cant wait to get back to Icmeler and this year I might do a Joe and take a chance and dance on the table or even take a chance and do the Casper Slide,

Then again thats taking your chances to far.

what a brilliant topic and I agree, if you have the chance to do something then take it. Like others on the site, I missed mine and now have to satisfy myself with a holiday and not the dream though the dreaming never stops. And while we're on this subject, as a 50something parent of 3 adults - I'd like to think that we encourage our kids to take life by the horns however difficult it can be because we worry. Life is for living and I heartedly congratulate anyone who has done it before and who will do it in the future.

Thanks Gene for the brilliant thought so eloquently written,

yet again gene touches a nerve the dim and distant past of black and white tv and Saturdays morning cinema. i travelled the world as an international playboy (royal naval rating).i think fondly of those days, the friendships made, the new lands visited, the new cultures embraced.the sheer excitement and joy of being alive. not knowing what was going to happen tomorrow but ever ready to meet the challenge wanderlust is still upon me and my need to get away is as strong as ever.thankfully my better half has the bug as bad as me.so to anyone thinking of taking that first step,in the words of my mentor rocky GO FOR IT!!!.

Thats a wonderfull idea Joe but obviously you dont know me to well.
Break dancing is not my thing, but putting on a pair of slingbacks and wearing an off the shoulder number and maybe doing a drag show now thats what I call entertainment.
It has been disscussed before and with the amount of talent on the forum at the moment,David in his sailor outfit,Mr Magoo, always up for it,John who doesnt mind doing dressing up ocasionaly and yourselfe we could give Stella a run for her(or his) money.
Get our act together and we could be in Marmaris at the Talk Of The Town
Maybe fit a singer in there somewhere singing a few Scottish numbers wearing a kilt, Will have to ask Haggis.

gene ,this talented ensemble that you are recruiting, at vast expanse(one efes each). must have a name that is known by all and not just the police. i suggest the old village people but i can be easily persuaded otherwise.i will have to do some work on my cha cha slide but my waltz and foxtrot should hold up.PS some female participation to add some class and badly needed talent might be worth thinking about.
