existing medical condition

Postby Jozzyd » 26 May 2010 20:19

Hi everyone, does anyone know of an insurance company who will cover me, i have my operation date (spinal disc removal) which is Tuesday of next week and would like to make sure i am covered should anything untoward happen. As the surgery is risky i have no idea if when it is completed the condition is still 'existing' or not, according to the insurance companies?? Can't believe i have to be at the hospital 7.30 am!!!!!1

I think it will count still as a preexisting condition, my father had a heart valve issue which was successfully repaired but he now has to take out specialist insurance to cover his heart which is not cheap even though he uses an insurance company that has setup a deal with Heart Club members..

Have you tried compare the market?

Haven't tried anywhere yet Dave, i only found out today that i was going in Tuesday !! Will have a look though. Did not want to travel with standard insurance as it could be dodgy. My consultant said i can fly 6 weeks after op and as we are flying out 28th July hopefully will be ok. I normally book insurance when i book the holiday but knew i would end up having surgery!

Firstly Jozzyd, good luck with your operation. Fingers crossed that it will be a success :)
Secondly, if you bank at Lloyds TSB, they are very good with their insurance. My hubby has a heart condition, diabetis, high blood pressure and a back problem, and a main blocked artery(?) in his left leg and he manages to get cover at a very reasonable price :D

I have high blood pressure, diabetes, stents in arteries, and various other heart related issues. :(

http://www.essentialtravel.co.uk/ sorted me out quickly and relatively cheaply.

Enjoy

Hi Davie

Have you tried http://www.essentialtravel.co.uk/

I've had stents in my arteries and have high blood pressure, diabetes, and various other heart related issues.

Not quite "Peripheral" Vascular Disease which usually refers to areas outside the heart but pretty close?

They seem to be able to cover pretty much anything at a cost. :D

Let us know how you get on.
