Oscars and Jimmys

Postby Doz » 21 Jul 2006 10:21

Hi

I have heard loads of people mentioning a bar called Jimmys on here and we go to a bar called Jimmys quite a bit whilst there but I dont think ist the same one as yous have been discussing. The one that we go to is right across the road from the front of our hotel which is the Efes Inn? These two bars are fab and the guys that run the two bars are really nice. Has anybody been to these? :D :D

Cheers x

Doz you have the right Jimmies, the actual name of his bar is "Okimo"
He is a retired merchant navy sea captain, I am led to believe.
His food is some of the tastiest and cheapest in Icmeler, and his wife and rest of his staff are superb.
Even gives you the cost of your meal and drinks in £s.

Only downside is he doesnt sell draught Efes he sells draught Tuborg, still worth going in for a meal and a couple of pints though.
The music is more relaxed and you dont get any hip hop or garage music.

Hello all ,
we went to jimmys okimo earlier on this month as we were also staying at the Efes inn and it is opposite the front of the hotel .
I have two girls aged 10 and 14 and they can be a bit funny about the food but on that night in Jimmys he told us that he would cook them anything they wanted , just the way they like it ie not spicey or without certain veg. He also apologised upfront for the time it took to arrive as he explained every thing was cooked from fresh and nothing was kept warmed for future use . That was fine by us and it gave us a little time for a couple of bottles of Efes and we watched coronation street on the big tv screens in the bar .I have to say the food was spot on and the service excellent but i could not help feeling a little sorry for Jimmy and his family as we were the only family in for a good two hours and it just makes you wonder if this and other bars like it can sustain this very quiet time in Icmeler . It would be a shame if they were to go out of business but you could see walking around the town that some of the smaller places may not be there for many more seasons . I hope I am wrong as we will be back for our fourth visit next year .

Where exactly is Okimos? I would like to go there in Sept as it sounds lovely. I have no idea where the Efes inn is. We are staying near Tansas, is it anywhere near there?

Thanks Dave, I think I have an idea where you mean. I've been going now for 10 years but since using this forum and hearing about all the other places, which I have never heard of, I am going to feel like a novice
I must have been walking round with blinkers on! :?

You know what Lynn, I've just realised I'm acting as if we're 30 somethings but Icmeler makes us feel loads younger - until we get home
