I haven't had a smoke for well over 10 years now and never missed them.

The wife went on champix for 2 weeks then lashed the tablets and the smokes and she is smoke free now

I've been a non smoker for nearly 20 years having done 20-30 or more a day for the previous 20 odd years. From day one I told people "I am a non smoker" or "I don't smoke" when offered a ciggy. It seemed so much more permanent and definite as opposed to "I've given it up". I guess over time it became natural for me to believe that I didn't indulge.

Good luck! It can be done.

Well Done Cassie, :D I have been stopped 14 months now. I had my last ciggy at 11.55pm on 31/12/2008.
It was my 3rd serious attempt (The stop smoking clinic was like a second home  )
It will be my first holiday in Turkey since I stopped, and I am a bit worried that I might be tempted.
Like John said, I find it better to say "I dont Smoke", rather than I've stopped.
Now I'm battling with the same 2 stone as Steve, I was not going to eat more and I was going to exercise   .
It is worth it though, I have an 11 month old grandson and I spend all my ciggy money on him. :)

Congrats on stopping smoking. Hubby and I stopped smoking in Feb 2009 (like the other members comment...2 stones ago). I was worried about our holiday as well as the couple we go with were still smoking when we went (they have also given up now, and it will be interesting to see how they cope this year). They had the room next to ours, and we could smell the smoke through the open patio door, but we were amazed at how it didn't bother us at all. Even in bars at night, we just forgot about it because we were having such a good time.
Keep up the good work...you won't regret it :D :D

Well done on stopping smoking!I smoked 34 years and by the time I quit I was smoking 40 a day.Stopped 4 years last month.Lots of my friends have stopped and started again. The only way I know is never to touch another fag.I still wouldnt dare have a drag off one.It was a really hard thing to do but my mother had stopped the year before at 75 having smoked since she was 14 and she was on patches for a year.I used a couple of lozenges but found sugar free mints almost as good.I am a stone heavier than I was but the money you save....and when you look at the prices now...and the freedom it gives you not to be looking for somewhere to have one.All good stuff!Good luck...you can do it! :)

After smoking for 40 odd years I found an instant cure, I had a major heart attack!! so please don"t try this method, smoking just aint worth it.Good luck with giving up,a smoke free life is so so so better.

I stopped 3 years ago last January after almost 40 years of puffing up. Wished Id done it years ago !!! still have the ocasional fancy but only lasts afew seconds. Breathing and general fitness much better. I put about a sone and half on - but just doing a course at the local footy club and finally managed to lose the extra. Giving up is well worththe effort - good luck Pete.
