Another wonderful holiday

Postby ochlynda » 13 Jul 2006 10:00

Just back after another wonderful holiday in Icmeler. This is our 4th time in 5 years and believe me it hasn't lost any off its charm. This year we took 2 new comers with us and 1 has already booked to go back next year again so I thing that says it all.Now down to the nitty gritty what makes Icemeler so good.

Firstly it must be the people we have made so many friends in Icmeler over the past 4 years.Notthing is to much trouble.During our holiday our daughter who has Downs Syndrome took ill and was taken to hospital the owner of our appartments went with us and stayed with us the whole time explaining what was going on and translating for us.Thankfully all she had was a chest infection and was treated with antibiotics and was feeling much better in a day or two.Can I also say the hospital was brillant our own NHS could do with a trip out to learn something. Now back to the happy side off our holiday.

The boat trip once again was great value and lots of fun all you could eat and drink for £15 everyone had a real fun day out and a hangover or 2 by the time the boat docked.
Spend a day in Trunc it was lovely went by water taxi great exprenice for all.

Restaurants all very good ate in The old famous Kitchen meal very good house wine excellent. The Lighthouse once again outstanding and very nice appartments ( did not stay here but well worth the look for future trips). The Moonlight brillant. The Alvaro restaurant excellent and entertainment very good. Staff was excellent with our daughter who loves everyone at this restaraunt the only complaint I had all holiday was at the Lemontree we ate here once food was okay only promblem we had to wait for 1hour and 40 minutes to get our main course which we weren't to happy with.Dreamboys another good nights crack and once again well looked after.

Now all we have left is our memories but what wonderful ones we have which should see us though the winter along with our photos. Have already booked for next year and who knows if we can manage a cheapy we might go back in September.Icmeler is what dreams are made off and I guess I am going to keep on dreaming.

Thanks ocklynda for taking the time to share your holiday with us all on the forum.
Sounds as though you had a wonderfull time, and pleased that everything went well at the hospital and wasnt to seriouse, but I know is worrying at the time.

I think some of these restaurents do try to keep you in their place all night hence the delay in the Lemon Tree of getting your main meal.

Your right about the dreams helping you through our long winters as we have the similaire type of dreams.
Icmeler is an infectiouse place and once bitten by the Icmeler bug I dont think you ever shake it off.

Thanks again for a wonderfull report.

Glad you enjoyed your holiday Ochliyda.

I was sorry to hear about The Lemon Tree I thought it had the makings of a great restaurant when it opened in May and was looking forward to going back in Sept.

May be see you if you get booked.

Well its taken me three days to build up to writing a report on our hols, we got back on Monday and the tissues are now dry and we are looking forward to returning to Icmeler in October and extremely jealous of everyone else who is going in the next few weeks.

We were surprised how quiet the resort was when we got there but during our second week it did pick up a bit. Everything is as we left it before but with a few new places to try, I'll list the reviews of the eateries in the guestbooks but we tried the Lemon Tree twice and both times it was excellent, in fact the vegetable lasagne was the best I've ever tasted. We did wait a bit but it was freshly cooked so we expected that. We also ate and drank at the Venice (Colette: Mehmet's still smiling!!) Ate and drank at Heat and Breeze (what a fab place!), Drank at Fess, Ate at Chef and Taj Mahal and of course ate at Travellers where we were staying - didnt have a bad meal over the two weeks, however, i'm paying for it now, the skirts dont fit!!!

Anyway, we visited old friends and made lots of new ones and eventually caught up with Mr Toohey and Shaz on the night before we went home (hi John and Sharon) and it was nice to meet Lottie and Karboo whilst we were there also.

The weather was very hot, just how we like it so we were pleased but we did have a couple of storms on our first week and we had a 3 hour power cut which was a hoot - we were taking part in the quiz at the travellers at the time, its amazing how resourceful people can be in times of crisis

Flights were spot on (excel), cant fault them although the plane was probably older than me (no funny comments Mr Toohey!)

Al in all, another great holiday ...... sorry to come home

Hi Neets

Dont worry Oct will be here sooner than you think. Post holidays blues are a bummer though are'nt they.

Glad to here you enjoyed the Lemon Tree after putting it on the guestbook as a new one to try I was a bit worried the food had gone down hill. Still there are so many other wonderful places to eat.
