Has anybody stayed at the Hotel Elif recently and is the hotel o.k

Hi, returned from the Elif on 13th June after a 2 week stay. Negatives first. I will be honest and say that we were very disappointed with the Hotel. We expected basic but clean and we got basic. Upon arrival in the room we found it to be dirty ie floor not mopped, toilet dirty, bathroom tiles covered in dust and dark hairs in the sink. Straight down to reception to complain and they sent the cleaner up immediately but I think the damage was already done after a long night flight its not a great start to your hols. We subsequently have found out that the hotel is to be demolished with a new one built in its place incorporating the spare piece of land between the hotel and beach. Breakfast isnt brill but fills a gap til lunchtime, cups are in short supply and coffee machine is always faulty but they make your brew behind the bar. Positives next, The location and views are brilliant. The restaurant is run by Mehmet and assisted by Antonio, 2 great guys, very friendly and helpful. Tom at the front manages to irritate some guests, particularly women, but I found him ok. The other young guys are friendly and polite. The Chicken Tikka Masala is defo worth a try and the Turkish night was a good laugh and excellent Barbecue. I have to say that there were many guests there on their 2nd and 3rd visits so it is not all bad, I think we were unlucky at the beginning and it was off putting for us overall. We've never stayed there, but friends did last year and loved it!
Mind you, they were given a small room at first and promptly got moved to a much larger one with a fantastic sea view

hi mark me and karen used to stay at the rlif we stayed there for six years in a row until 2 years ago it was taken over and the standards dropped so much you would think you were in a diferant hotel it was dirty the breakfast was non exsisting i felt sick as it was the best hotel in icmeler we had some great times there if it has got its act together then it will be good the views are great we have found another hotel about 100 yards along towards the middle of the beach . hope you have a good time

hi lick you say the elif is getting pulled down and rebuilt both me and karen were wondering why not just extend it we have our own idea 2 years ago there flat on the top floor had seriuos cracks appear on the floor all the tiles popped up they say it was just the heat but we are not sure alan

Oh my Goodness, we have booked this hotel for two weeks in August, was dying to read an updated report and now I have I'm not so sure.

Pauline I are staying there again in September.....will be my 5th time.

We love the hotel for the views, size of the rooms. Air conditioning, location.
We really enjoy staying there, we always talk to the girl who cleans our room , so guess that is why we never have a dirty room.
We never eat breakfast there... mainly becuase we tend to have a brunch then evening meal. But we always have a drink there when coming off the beach, or if staying by the pool before we go in to get ready for going out.... Then we are cheeky enough to ask for some ice (to have with our drinks in the room we have whilst getting ready to go out)
We did consider another newer hotel which was a bit cheaper but Air Con was extra bringing to same price as Elif but of course never had the fantastic views.
All in all not a bad hotel..... enjoy your stays there

We are booked to stay at the ELIF in September 09 for two weeks and reading different comments on the hotel. Can anyone tell me is the hotel rooms are clean ie clean bed linnen, towels, toilet, shower. Stayed previously at the Private and that was very basic but clean. We are thinking of changing to the EDA. Can anyone help.

Can't comment on the Elif as I've no knowledge of it, but I can recommend the Eda. We've stayed with the family who run it twice -once at the Eda itself and previously when they had the Esenkoy. They are lovely people - who have become good friends of ours - who will do anything to make your holiday special. The hotel itself is very clean and we had no complaints whatsoever during our stay. The staff are all lovely and very, very helpful. I'd have no hesitations in staying there again, or recommending to others. It's also in a great location - very central, but not at all noisy.

Hey Ive Just Came Back From Icmelere Today! First Time And I Stayed In Elif! Not 100% If I Do Say So Myself! we had no hot water all week! ceilings all cracked! had our bed sheets changed once and only got clean towels once! our bins never got emptied after wednesday considering we were stayin until saturday! floors walls doors etc were dirty! shower head was full of crap and the tap where u turn shower on was leaking plus the plug hole was full of hair that our hotel room flooded! the main switch where u keep ur keep for the electric was kept on the wall with plasters stopping it from falling apart! i took plenty of pictures! we had a side room so had the view of the efes in hotel and the moutains was lovely! the main toilet in reception was all flooded and dirty and the pool itself i never saw it once get cleaned! and the little pool was full of dirt! plus all the sunbeds were cracked and broken! there was only one person there on reception that cud understand and talk good english but the rest didnt understand at all! i never got any of there names but one of the guys in the bar constantly pestered us but the others were really lovely! the rest of icmeler was great! but i think the hotel has put me off going back! even tho id love to eventually! for it being my first holiday abroad since being a kid its not what i expected from reading on the main icmeler online website about the elif hotel! to be honest i dont think i would recommend any1 to stay there now! ive herd it has went down hill since being took over! as we were leaving waiting for the rep a group of couples around about the age of 60 had only arrived that morning and were not happy at all with the hotel! so i feel sorry for them as if they dnt like it on there first day theyve still got 2 weeks left! as i say icmeler its self is great apart from the hassling but i got used to that! had good time apart from hotel so was a bit dissapointed suzie x

Gold Trail pulled us out of this hotel in Aug this year (surprised @ Gold Trail) we had a look at it while we were on holiday and I must say I was glad to be moved to the Miray Hotel which we enjoyed very much.

It Wasnt As Bad First 2 Days It Was The Wednesday When It Started Gettin Bad Like The Toilet Stuff Towel Changing Etc!! Only Had 2 Days Left So Thought Myt Aswell Stay Put! Neva Again Tho Neva Again!!!

I have been to Icmeler 8 times now since being 11 and always loved it, we have stayed in two star places before and have not been as bad as this. To start with the we arrived on sunday at 7am and were just givin our keys and sent to the hotel room, we had no idea what time was breakfast was or any information! We thought the hotel was ok in reception but then once in the room sooo dirty! There were stains up the walls, many creepy crawlys on the balcony, the solt that the key needs to be put in to keep the electricity was being held on the wall by plasters! The only room socket was next to the dressing table which was hanging off the wall. I have been to some places where I can say that they were very basic and these things could be looked past but when the room was as dirty as it was it began to spoil our holiday. The thing that was the worst for us was that the hotel room had not been cleaned since thursday! and on the wednesday she was late in the room cleaning that I had to change the toliet bin, all of the other bins and needed to pass the towels out. But I can not describe in words how dissappointed I was after hearing raving reviews before. I paid 817 for a week stay for me and a friend and I feel as though I have been robbed. There were very few sunbeds that were not cracked and by the time people from other hotels came and used the pool the pool area was to crowded and very loud! The staff in the resturant very extremly pushy and the bars around were the same.
