Postby Sayea » 03 Sep 2009 22:49

Ok I had to ring the 'short order chef company' today because my intial booking info which was promised for 2 - 5 days still hasnt showen.. and to cut a long story short while I was on the phone with the girl i asked again about luggage weight and she told me YES 20kg (were going next july) and the 5kg and size restrictions for the hand luggage and then she says...

"oh and dont forget your HOLD luggage cant be bigger then 62cm"??????

Uhmm duh what?? apprently she was told no hold luggage bigger then 62cm Ive never heard this before and ive asked them twice now about weights and size..

when you check in now there are little baskets at the check in desk - your hand luggage should be able to fit into that. that's where the size thing comes from.
a large handbag, rucksack, or small hold-all would fit in it, but it's quite hard to describe the dimensions in writing. These baskets have been there for a few years now, so you might know what I'm talking about.

To be fair, I don't think I have ever seen anyone check that their hand-luggage fits in these baskets and I for one have never measured my hand-luggage. As long as you are not trying to board the plane like a pack-horse  I don't think you will encounter any problems!

There are definitely size limits for hold luggage too. My daughter is in America at the moment and when she was flying out, her flight information gave strict dimensions (height, width and depth) for the maximum size of the luggage you were allowed. It's probably worth checking all your booking information just to be on the safe side.

I don't know why manufacturers keep making those extra large cases if we are not even able to fly with them - seems stupid to me!

there in league with the airplane companys probably - we'll make suitcases to large you charge them more we'll split the difference hahaha.

My OH Has seen this Massive case he wants to buy and shove it full of stuff im guessing to bring back with him - but if you cant do bigger then 62 cms (which is tiny) then he is stuffed haha

Are you sure that this is HAND luggage and not HOLD luggage?

If this was the case, how would we go on with push chairs etc.

the girl must've been mixed up and she meant HAND luggage shouldn't be more than 62cm.

a suit-case smaller than 62cm would be teeny so I'd stop flapping

my dad just returned from Turkey last week and his case measures 73cm and he had absolutely no problem and his friend had a 93cm case and even he had no problem so i would just stop worrying about it, me thinks it's them trying to scare you into taking less with you. Just look forward to your holiday and dont worry.
I go next week and my case is 73cm so will tell you when i return if i had any prolems
