I would think over £400, but not exactly sure. I had the bigger tin that I bought from Thorntons.

Just another saving tip I use.
When I win £10 on the lottery, I put this into my £2 tin too

Hi Davie's OH here - I really must join the forum myself. I get my tins in Poundland and most other pound shops do them. We usually go away the middle two weeks in June and I save £1 every day from 1 June to 31 May each year. If I have a £2 coin in my purse I put that in instead. Had £360.00 when I opened it this year and used it to pay for our flights for next year. Booked them when they first came out and got a good price. Started a new tin for 2010 but have only had one £2 coin so far - don't know what's happened to them.

I've got a feeling after reading these post everybody is now saving £2 coins hence creating a shortage.

We came back three weeks ago and I've already started the new tin for September, I'm putting a £1 coin per day in the tin plus any 50p or 20p pieces as well. Hoping to have around £100 which we use at the airport for a meal, drinks, cigs and perfume.

i am so wanting to open my tin, but its not quite full yet, so i cant
have even found myself asking for £2 coins in change
looks like i will have to save it for xmas or next years holiday

Keep it for your next holiday Karen. I know mine won't be full for going in September but I only save in it for spends at the airport, hoping to have around £100 which is more than enough to splurge!

we started one of the large tins last July and still only feels half full, we are going in September and again in July next year. Might wait until then to open it. My dad reckons it could hold about £1000

We put in £2 and £1 as well.
