HI Rebecca, your British passport has to have at least 6 months left on it

when you renew your passport, they will add on any complete months that are left on your old passport

aw that's a shame and a bit more expense Rebecca
I always use the PO checking service - think it's about £6.00, but they give you a tracking number and timescale to expect the renewal to be done by

Any time remaining on their current passports will be added on to the new one though - not much consolation, given the expense, I know.

The maximum number of months added is 9 months so you will get your 5 months back, also Passport prices increase in September so by getting them now you will save money.

If you go to your post office and use the check and send service, it costs an extra £6 abouts, but there is a guideline of two weeks return.

Right now is the busiest period, but even now, they're managing to return them within this time, it took 12 days for us.
