Hi

My other half and myself and going back to Icmeler for the 4th time on July 23rd for 2 weeks yippee.

We wanted to take some small gifts for friends we'd made and were wondering what goes down well.

I was taken ill last year (nothing serious but was off my feet for 4 days) we couldn't get over how kind the bar staff, resturant staff etc were.

Making sure I had plain food to eat that I got the right things from the chemist etc.

So I we'd just like to take them a little token this year.

All ideas welcome

Being Scottish, we took some shortbread out for friends in Icmeler, and they loved it!

Thanks Blondie. Biscuits and sweets as mentioned by Eric would be a good idea as the Turks seem to have a sweet tooth!

I wonder what they'd make of ginger nuts

I was thinking maybe fudge as I don't think I've seen any in Turkey.

They do seem to have a sweet tooth, so I'm sure anything like that would go down a treat. Maybe something which is made quite locally to you would be a nice touch?

I'm from Kidderminster in the West Midlands - Teddy Greys is a famous sweet shop by us they make the Herbal Cough sweets people might know, and old fashioned sweets etc.

I thought I'd hit the shop a couple of days before we go and get some pic n mix gift bags.

The only other thing Kidderminster is famous for is carpets and I think the Turks might be ok for those LOL

The sweets sound like a great idea - but yes, I'd leave the carpets at home, I reckon they've probably got enough over there!

We always eat at Cafe Rose in the old village, and Gulusar the owner absolutely loves Maltesers, so I will be off to Poundland to get a few boxes before our visit on the 29th July.

Katie, how do you manage to get the Irn Bru through airport security? Just curious, as we were going to take some across, but wondered how we'd get it through...

So the list is:-

Maltesers
Jelly Babies
Old fashioned sweets
Haribo
Biscuits

I will have to weigh my luggage carefully! as I'd hate to have to leave a pair of shoes behind!! to make way for sweets.

I shall bring double the amount of Maltesers and Jelly Babies and drop them off to Donna when we book our trips at the office.

if you pack it in your hold bagage there is no problem or you could by it once you are airside and through security WH Smiths and Boots sell it at Manchester airport so would think they have it at other airports to

hiya blondie
well you cant carry it through security as its over the liquid restrictions
so we normally just buy it in the airport after we are past security cause then you can take it onto the plane no problem
never fancied trying to put it in my suitcase as you can imagine the mess if that spilt on your clothes
