Hello Icmelites. I dont know how to start this question but here goes. We are going to Icmeler again in Aug-Sept our 8th time but this year my niece and her partner are coming with us for the 1st time. They are lovely girls but they are lesbians. I am very, very opened minded and i am worried what the Turkish people will think about them. They had a civil ceromany the other week and i wont know how to put it to our many turkish friends. They are very open about the relationship but i dont want to be put on the spot if this upsets anyone. ANY advice will be very helpful. I want them to have a lovely holiday like we always do. Happy hols. Jem xxxxxxxxxxx

These are your familly and why should you worry if narrow minded people are going to think badly of them, if any of the Turkish people have a problem with your Neice then they don't deserve your business.

Me and my partner occiasionally get the odd comment, but tell them where to go. We find the majority are very open minded.

My friend and her partner holidayed in Icmeler last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. They had no problems whatsoever and wouldn't hesitate to go back again. I don't think you'll have any need to worry.

There were also a bunch of lesbians staying at our apartments, some of them had children all lovely women and they never mentioned having any problems whilst out and about. I don't see why they would offend anyone, and as I said if it does offend anyone and they say anything tell them where to go and don't give them your business they'll soon comeing running to say sorry if they think they've lost a customer.

to be honest Jemini, I'd be more worried about whether anyone offends your niece & her partner!!!!

and to be totally frank, if anyone is offended by them , then it's THEIR problem - rant over hehe

hope you all have a great time - esp as they are newlyweds! and what better place to go for a honeymoon

if anyone doesnt like it let them take their shallow minded selves off somewhere else. Ive seen a few gay guys about in icmeler and marmaris so im sure there will be no probs, if they are in love and happy good luck to them.

Cant see anything to worry about, most people have no problem with other relationships different to their own and if they do it is their problem.
We have had quite a few friends, male and female, and have found they have been very nice people with no hang ups about their preferences, so why should we have. We shall be there from 2nd to 17th August and will be in Vinces so do not hesitate to speak to us, Vince or Shaz will tell you who we are, two silverhaired wrinklies, one fat and one thin and Im not admitting which is which :!: :!:

Hi
answer to your questıon. Me and my fıance Isla are in icmeler just now wıth my mum and dad. All we ever seem to get asked ıs are you sısters or frıends. We just tell them straıght. Some of them are ok wıth ıt but fınd ıt hard to understand why. others take the huff especıally ıf they have been tryıng to chat you up. If they cant be bothered explaınıng themselves all the tıme ıt would be easıer to say they are just frıends. But ın my opınıon ı dont see why they should as ıts nothıng to do wıth anyone else. Hope thıs helps and you all have a fab holıday.

Postby Chris » 26 Jun 2009 22:28

Dont worry about it at all.Last year our son and his partner, male, came with us,I also was worried with it being a muslim country and cautioned them there may be problems, they sussed them out straight away!and everyone was also so friendly with them. They loved it and we have just come back again and they were welcomed with open arms once again,we have all booked again for next year, and they said its the best holiday they have ever had.

I shouldn't worry about other people's thoughts. Anyway no-one ever thinks badly of a couple of girls going on holiday together. So why should it be any different?

My husband and I are taking one of his friends with us this year, so it's 2 men and one woman.....maybe that will start tongues wagging??? LOL

Good luck and have a great holiday 8) 8)
