looks quiet

Postby pip » 14 Jun 2009 16:35

hi all,
due to fly out next saturday from newcastle   and the resort looks really quiet on the web cam and from some of the reports in the forum, has anyone returned in the past week or so :?:

is it that quiet......? if so are there crazy low prices to get people in the bars and resturants like i have seen before, (set meals, drink offers)

hope so like a nice beer in the evening and if it is cheaper then last year it tastes even better ha ha ha.

Just returned to Newcastle yesterday (Sat). We were staying in Marmaris but visited Icmeler several times although only once on an evening.Everywhere inc. Marmaris is a little quieter ,I would say, than same time last year. Having said that the places are far from deserted. There is still a good atmosphere around the place and, yes, there are deals a plenty to be had, cheap food, free drinks etc. especially if you have children with you. Enjoy !!

Hi Just returned from Icmeler yesterday and it was quiet, the locals said it's usually quiet in June and picks up in July, they had a busier May. It was nice we were able to go in any restaurant, although saying this I was told that you had to book for a meal in the Venice, we never went in there this year.

We just arrived back on Sunday night and did think it seemed a bit quieter than last June, although there were still plenty of people going around.
As far as exchange rates were concerned, we were getting 2.45, but that was in the wee mini markets. The actual change offices all seemed to be offering 2.40 as their best rate.

Thanks Dodge, yes had a great time as usual. Exchange rate was approx 2.45 but we exchanged twice in the bank and got 2.50 and 2.51 the day after with no commission charge.

When you got 2.5 and 2.51 at the bank, which bank was it, and also was this for stirling or for cash?

Thanks in advance

This was in exchange for £100 in £20 notes, and the bank was in Marmaris. It was the first bank before the Marina.

We have been hearing for months that people were not booking Spain Greec Portugal etc due to the poor Euro rate. Bookings to Turkey are on the increase, up about 35% I have heard. Where are they all going?

We were in Icmeler for last 2 weeks in May and it seemed quiet then, some folks are sayign June is also very quiet. Are people npw going to different resorts as opposed to the Icmelr Marmaris, Olu Deniz.

I think things need to pick up considerably or there may be even more bars/restaurants going under

I think the same.

When my old man was booking his holiday this year, all the main tour operators seem to be pushing All Inclusive over anything else.

He ended up paying the same for an All Inclusive holiday, as he would have done staying HB.

Suits him fine, as all his daytime pool drinks are free, but he will still be venturing out on a night.

We certainly noticed a lot more people on the beach with the AI wristbands this year. It was very evident when they all disappeared at lunchtime!
