Morning all.
We go to marmaris 5weeks tomorrow and I was wondering what the state of play is on the mozzie front? Are they bad or worse in July? I have read some old posts and know what I need to buy to stop getting bitten by the little blighters! They only go for me, hubby and daughter seem to escape every year!

in icmeler and marmaris the council go round every so often and spray the air and put something down the drains to kill all the mosquitos
you shouldnt be bothered with them
you might get some bites but not that much considering the temperature

Thanks for that. Sounds like they've got it covered. Councils over there seem to have got their priorities right unlike over here! Any other creepy crawlies I need to worry about?

They were certainly biting in May in Icmeler. I got bitten worse this year then during both times that I went there last year. I reckon there's a new strain of Super Mozzie!

I would recommend you wear anti mosi stuff in the evening and on the jeep safari,

I use Avon Skin so Soft dry oil spray and they have left me alone since I started using it, the last bit I had a few years ago was when I forgot to put some on.

I also spray Avon Skin so Soft (the green bottle) just before going out in the evening. I used to get bitten to death, but once I was told about the Avon miracle and started using it, it was brilliant. OH also uses it after his evening shower. Another little tip, try and sit on tables that are not near any walls as we found that these attracted ants and we were being bitten there also (just check the floor under the table before you sit down) in restaurants.

At the moment the skin so soft is on offer in the latest Avon catalogue for £1.75 (just put my order in!!!)

We use the lemon spray that is available in most shops in Icmeler
Touch wood hardly ever been bitten when we were there.

Me and the other half have been using oderless garlic tablets for the last couple of years and have never been bothered by mossizs or vampires. We normally start to take them about 4 weeks prior to going.

Came back yesterday after 2 weeks.Wife and I didnt receive 1 bite!! Didnt use any repellants either but could have just been lucky. We did see lots of people with lots of angry bites on their legs though so be sure the little blighters are around!!!

We were in Icmeler in late May, can't say we were really bothered by them. I saw a couple, but it wasn't anything like a holiday in Corfu once - leave the window open, and it was like a scene from a Battle of Britain movie - substitute spitfires for mozzies.

Maybe some people are more desirable for biting

Returned yesterday and received 5 bites whilst there, that`s despite taking Vitamin B capsules and using the Avon spray. Returning in September so will try all of these things again and going to try the lemon spray as well!!

Hi, We have just came home yesterday from 2 weeks in Icmeler, (which is next to Marmaris) and in 2 weeks I have 8 mosquito bites and I wasn't the only one, I don't usually get bitten but even the rep warned us when we were on the coach going to resort about them, we used the plug in mosquito repellent which helped, so just beware you never know they are there until it's too late. I was told that vitamin B1 tablets would help, take them for a week before you go on holiday and take one every day while on holiday.

get some OFF from the shop over there, its available all over, its the turkish mozzi spray, and hubby comes up in huge lumps if he gets bit, so we use everything we can...touch wood, its worked so far!

I bought a germoline insect spray and it was really good. As soon as you know you have been bit, don't scratch, spray on and it works a treat. I get bit every year and used it last week and the bits were gone with in a day or two

Try the Marmite test. A teaspoon of the lovely brown stuff an hour or so before going out for the evening will keep the mossies at bay. Your body secretes the yeast in the marmaite and the mossies will hate it, just like my other half, she wont come near me either.... It really does work!

I took the Vitamin B complex tablets each day and that kept them away

I swear by vitamin B1 tablets. I take one a day for 2 weeks before i go then one a day when i am there. I have to say though that last September i got a couple of horrible bites first time in 5 years. It was actually in the airport that i got bitten and they started to swell as soon as i was in the taxi going to Icmeler! No more after this though although it did take the full 2 weeks for them to go down!
my husband doesn't usually get bitten but he had about 10 during our holiday despite using the mozzie repellant on his legs and feet every night.
Here's hoping they've all gone off 'diet Dunning' by time we get there this September!!

I am a mozzie magnet - and when I get bitten, I take a really bad reaction and the bites become infected. I got bitten twice on the hand this year (I think either at the airport or just after arriving in Icmeler) and yes, by the next morning, my hand was all swollen and the bites looked horrible. Had to go to the chemist and get two sets of tablets and ointment, which did sort them out pretty quickly.
However, I did take the trusty Avon Skin So Soft dry oil spray and religiously sprayed it all over for the rest of the week - and didn't get another bite at all!
Hubby and son did collect a few bites between them, however - but the SSS meant I stayed bite-free for the rest of the week - hallelujah! I won't be travelling anywhere without it ever again!

maybe they just hadnt sprayed the air that much by then
cause normally me and mum both get biten but they dont seem to go for us much when we are in icmeler
hope they are still spraying the air and drains
ask the locals they will know

We did see the pick-up thing which usually goes round spraying, but we didn't actually see them spraying, so I don't know. All I know is that, wherever I go, even here at home with the dreaded midgies, if there is even one of the little blighters around, they will home in on me like a magnet. Maybe it's my sweet Scottish blood they're after...
