Returned home at 4am this morning after a fabulous week in Icmeler. Stayed at the Efendi Hotel. Weather was perfect after a quick downpour last Wednesday morning. Had a trip market whilst it rained. Probably the best time to go as it is under cover and much more comfortable. Ate in the Florida, Lighthouse, Maestro and The Lemon Tree which turned out to be our favourite although all excelent value.
Spent most days on the beach where we were charged the meagre sum 5 TL for 2 sun bed plus umbrella. We were a little disappointed, however, when we did our annual trip to Turunc where they had started, as of the day we went (Friday 5th June), charging for the beach - 3.5 TL per person where it has always been free as long as you used the bars. We wont be going there again out of principle. Shame really, as it is such a lovely little place.
It seems this new Mayor is causing havoc. All the bar and restaurant staff seem a little afraid and cannot relax. I also think it has taken a bit of fun out of it. I quite enjoyed the banter.
All in all though, we had a fabulous holiday and looking forward to our next visit to our little piece of heaven on earth.

Hi there glad to hear you had a great holiday, we to are staying at the Efendi, we have stayed there before and found it to be a loverly hotel, we also like the fact that we get discount at the resturant and bar, got on so well with the staff and management that we even got discount when we weren't staying there. We arrive there the 19th and just know we are going to have a great time.
We hope that things relax a little regarding the bars and resturants, it seems that the new Mayor is taking things a little to far, but maybe thats all of our faults for complaining about the hassle and type of entertainment on offer, last year some of these places were struggling to stay above water and unable to afford to bring in entertainment so put on what ever they could and some of the lads really put their heart and soul into keeping us amused, I hope things dont go to far or it will take some of the attraction away.

The Efendi is a small
hotel - only 31 rooms. Very friendly and homely. Food is exellent and staff very accommodating. Small pool, same depth all round which is great for me who is not very confident. 50 metres from beach so in a perfect location. Breakfast is Turkish but always plenty to eat. There is a full English but you have to pay for this. In fact, I wish I was still there. Hope this helps.

Thanks, have visited the Maestro lots of time and always felt very welcome so decided to give it a try this year. Did you find it noisy at night, got a little one so hoping not to bad. Stopped at the Prince a couple of years ago and found the large
hotel opposite very noisy at night

We particularly asked for a room over bar which, for a little one, could be noisy although all music gets turned right down at midnight. If I were you I would ask for a room over pool on arrival (they are very obliging). Other than this, really not very noisy as it is a little off the beaten track really.

Oh how weird we just come back on Friday and hen we went to Turunc the beach was free??? Cost us 5 lira each to get there tho!

The charges only started that day, 5th June. We were quite amazed when 2 guys came up and asked us for the money. In fact, we had an argument with them. It appears the restaurants had been informed it was happening but they did not know when. Friday seems a funny day to start charging.
We did notice, towards the end of our holiday,
Icmeler had started to reduce some of their prices because some of the bars and restaurants were very quiet.
We paid 7.5 TL each way. So to get there and back actualy cost us 30 TL. With lunch on top, it turned out to be quite an expensive day, in fact, we wished we had gone on a boat trip. Would have been much cheaper.

they did that in Turunc a few years ago, but the manager at the Zeybek says if you eat andd drink and use there pool as well as say you are staying there it is free

It is the local council who are chargeing for the sunbeds.
We were there last week in Turunc and werent charged but were informed that the council would start chargeing in the next few days.

If you go to the Zeybek they have their own private beach, which they maintain them selves, you can use the sunbeds free, their pool and the showers and changing room, I have never paid in Turunc
