Hi joan1950 we have always found it better to take enough turkish lira to get you through the first day and then change your sterling has you require it. it is always been a better rate in turkey than over here
enjoy your hols

Hi Joan, Waite until you get there I was there the last 2 weeks in May and the rate went up from 2.25 to 2.40 and it looks better than that now.

todays rate at the post office is 2.4326 which is the highest this year, the resort rate is usually 5 to 8 cents higher so i would expect 2.50 to be the rate soon in resort, and i made the mistake at taking a gamble on some last friday at just short of 2.40 ,never mind cannt win them all.

at the moment its looking good for our rate.....and the sunshine .....and ICMELER......what more could you want to look forward to ?

I just took the rate at the post office ( 2.4326) .

After john saying 2.45 today in resort, and a few others saying 2.46. ,and after a wee bit searching I think that 2.43 from the PO is a good Uk rate . Online only.

So I took the plunge and spent some ( not all ) the holiday spends on this rate  .

I dont go untill June29th--July20th, and I dont think the rate ( lira ) will reach over 2.50=£1 during this period . in the Uk

I dont think we will get a better UK rate this summer.

Well it will drop tomorrow, it plummeted on the money market when the bank of England left the interest unchanged today, took an immediate 0.03 drop and has struggled all day, it's currently 0.05 lower since the start of the day, If your taking £1000 that's 12 efes you won't be able to buy.

Hopefully will start a recovery again tomorrow.

The interbank rate rose 2.53 on Thursday but dropped to 2.47 yesterday, it gained a little and closed at nearly 2.48. I fly out tomorrow night so I will be going into the local supermarket and changing everything i've got at the days rate incase it drops anymore. I signed up to a text service that let me know the interbank rates everyday by text message.

Just to let you all know that Post Office online are offering 2.404 so if you order today and arrange to pick up from your local branch you should get that rate regardless wether it goes up or down inbetween you ordering it and collecting it from your local post office.
