hi folks , my wife and I are booking this weekend . first time icmeler , first time turkey . Few questions perhaps the regulars can help with (booking for 2 weeks early Sept)

Was thinking AI , now more BB cos of the choice of restaurants etc - am I right ?

Whats the approx cost of a meal out ?

Entertainment seems to be in the bars & restaurants rather than hotels ?

Somebody told me to wait till there to get liras ?

Gratefull thanks from a turkey virgin

First of all welcome to the forum and congratulations on making a great choice in choicing Icmeler I have been going now for seven years and its like going home as most members will agree. People say why dont you try new resorts and I reply that I found the best the first time.

Now to answer your questions. Iff you go AI you miss the oportunity to eat out in many great restaurants and make some great friends a great meal costs between 7-12 per head. Entertainment revolves around the bars and restaurants and not so much the hotels as I understand.

Changing money better rates in resort. Most of the supermarkets are happy to take your pounds for a better rate than you will get in Uk

Hope this has helped, we go out for the eighth time in 4 weeks and cant wait.

Dont Know who you plan on booking with as you say you have not booked yet, but look no further than ICR for great value and second to none service if not at least use an ICR transfer

hi don,t go all inclusive, and miss the different restaurants,if you can stand the cost of eating and drinking in britain, you will love doing the same in icmeler and save money . apartment helps also ,have what you want, if and when you want it. we eat in twice a week also, as 14 nights eat and drinking is over the top. but i love it .??????? bill atkinson

Couldnt agree more there is so much choice many good restaurants and bars and all very freindly. You can try different areas, you are not just resrtricted to a beach front ,you can choose lively in main centre or canal or relaxing like the old village area .Something for eveyone.
Hope you have a great time

Hi Pete
Welcome to the forum, i'm sure you won't be disappointed in your first trip to icmeler and turkey.
As for your questions:
Yes i would choose BB or even just self catering over All inclusive. There are lots of fantastic restaurants in turkey that you could easily try a different one for every day that you are there. Also with self catering you are able to do as you wish and have the facilities for if you fancy breakfast in the room etc. For me the use of a fridge is most important and why we tend to choose self catering over the other options.

As for the cost of a meal out, my grandparents have just come back and said that most places the prices are still pretty good. There was a chinese restaurant that were offering all you could eat including a half bottle of wine for between £7 and £8 per person. The also found a restaurant called the holiday where you could have a 3 course set meal which was about 18ytl

Entertainment does tend to be in the bars rather than the hotels

When we go we hardly take any lira, in fact it's usually just what is left over from the year before. Most bars/restaurants/shops and at the market you can pay in stirling and generally they will give you a decent exchange rate. If you want to change some £s into turkish lira then the best place is the supermarket underneath the ICR offices near to the chill bar.

Have a fantastic time, we're off there in 29 days and i can't wait
