For all you who have been watching the lira thread it just shows how strong the lira is to our £,from a post office rate of 2.42 to the latest at 2.26.
Some good news is ,it is on the way up because the bank rate at 7.30pm this evening had gone back up to 2.48 tl to the £.
Now if the rate jumps again tomorrow as long as the PO rate reflects this which it is not doing at the moment I intend to buy.
So if the PO rate gets up to 2.42 this week or early Monday my lira will be ordered.

If it jumps upto to 2.42 I would check www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel to use there currency comparison function before ordering from Post office, you get some really good deals by comapring them on moneysaving expert. There are usually companies offering a lot better than the post office as long as you can have them delivered to a home or work address.

I see todays rate at the Post Office is 2.21 to the £.
Hope things pick up again.
Wish I had bought when it was 2.42 to the £.

17th June.. I reckon it will be quite low by then (coincidence or not, it always seems to be low in the holiday season!).

mmm... I'll go for 2.18

I see it is set by what icmeleronline says, but where does it get the price from?!

I use my bank, Garanti, for the rates.

It's slipping really low now, it's 2.28 with turkish bank therefore at the mo probably only going to get 2.24 in resort if you're lucky. Lets hops it goes up again.

If I had got any sense I would have bought it a few weeks ago when it was 2.42 at the Post Office.
Going to hang on though a bit longer I feel sure its going to rise a little
(famous last words) it will probably drop to 2.10 like last August.

I think the same thing Gene wish I bought it about 6 weeks ago. There were some websites doing it 2.47 with free delivery. But at least it is on the up again, hopefully it will keep climbing.

£ took a pounding this afternoon after the budget, dropped from 2.41 to 2.36 within a couple of hours, recovered back to 2.37 doesnt look good at the moment.

Euro and Dollar also got stronger against us.

just a quick question regarding exchange rates (sorry if this has been asked before)
If the exchange rate (as given on the BBC) is lets say 2.40 you tend to get in the region of 2.25 to 2.30 from P.Office, M&S and the other money exchange outlets. If the rate is the same 2.40 what rate would you tend to get from the supermarkets/hotels etc in resort.

TIA
