Gene - glad your sorted

Kitty - that's good to know that you've heard something about the XL holiday too, we've been waiting 7 months now so hopefully it'll mean that we might get our cheque before we go to turkey in june to boost our spending money.

As for me, i'm still waiting to here if my flights are ok. I can't send my claim form off for the accomodation or the transfers until i know if i have got to claim for flights as well. I have booked in at the Uysal apartments though now with the rest of the family that we're going with.

Hope that everyone else gets sorted soon

Rachel hope you get sorted out soon as to everyone thats become a victim,we had booked with travel republic but flying xl,we had decided to pester them a bit the last few weeks so i think that helped towards getting our refund, still waiting for the cheque though, hopefully the end of this week it will drop on my doorstep

I am due to go out in 3 weeks. Spoke to Goldtrail and after sending them my documentation to confrm I had paid they have advised that the flights are OK, so i will still be going.

Freedom direct had used another company for accomadation who advised that they had not received payment and I would have to pay the accomadation again

I then got an email from ABTA which advises

Thank you for your email, the bookings made by the Freedom Direct will proceed with the Goldtrail and Hotels4U. Any monies they have not received will be honored by them and claimed back from the financial protection by the tour operators directly.

Am I being thick or what. What does this actually mean as it seems to contradict what hotels 4u have advise d me

Stewart, it sounds as though tour operators covering their own backs as you will inevitably pay them quicker than ABTA

The travel agents dont seem to know whats what do they?Make sure that you keep photocopys of everything including all your e-mails sent referring to bookings,we had to send a copy of that off as well,as for our cheque yet another delay they need another signature so wont be getting our refund yet, hope you all have yours sorted

Just when we thought the going bust thing was all over, reading these posts reminds me of how vulnerable our holidays still are. Gene and Ann so glad you got it sorted,it happened to friends of mine last year, it's unbelievable that some of you are stiil having to chase companies from last year. As Gene said it consumes your life. Hope you all get your money back and hols sorted.

Hi,

I read that as you flight and hotel is ok, hotels4u must be able to be able to claim their loss through some sort of insurance they have.

Hi,
Glad to hear some of you are still able to get away with your bookings being honourd.
I got fed up waiting for a call back from hotels4u with whom Freedom Direct had booked my accom and transfer that i called them. I was told to send them proof i had paid so i photocopied all the paperwork, including the vouchers, and posted them yesterday. I even sent it special delivery so they had it by 1pm today. Now i just have to wait.

Theresa

I hope that I do not shatter your dreams but I spoke at length with Hotels4U today and they were refusing to budge. I had previusly spoken with ABTA who advised that hotels4U should honour the booking. I qouted this to Hotels4U they were not interested, trying to argue that this was an accom only booking not covered by ABTA, which I beleive is nonsense

As I am due to fly out in 3 weeks I need the accomadation therefore I had to pay, luckily for me it not a huge amount. I feel really sorry for anyone who did have a large bill for accom

I have emailed Hotels4U again, asking for my money back

Question now is who do I make a claim against for my money back as ABTA and ATOL do not cover this

Hope you have more luck than I had

Just to keep everyone upto date - Certain parts of Freedom Direct have now been bought by another local firm "Hays Travel".

I don't know if this make any difference to the problems people are having but it might be another avenue to chase if you hit dead-ends with your requests.

Stewart

If you paid by credit card you can claim from them or if your debit card is visa debit and not maestro then you can also claim the money back from the bank.

I'm going into my bank tomorrow to find out what I need to do as my debit card is visa protected, I'll let you know how I get on.

Ok I think that as we are now talking about how to claim etc I think it may be better off discussed on HT where there is a dedicated post about this company so if you click the link http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=132900 you can get more info there
