Unless it's changed since last year, it should be ok as I always take my portable dvd player through as hand luggage

If you airline only permits one bag it will need to fit in your handluggage and not carried seperately.

There are no restrictions on carrying one onboard, but as said already most airlines only permit one item of hand luggage so this must fit into your hand luggae bag. What I do is take my personal cd player with me, and I have some small but powerful speakers so they take very little space up in my hand luggage.

I now put all my expensive electricals, camera and camcorder in my hand luggage as if you lose your suitcase or it gets tampered with you are not insured

last year at belfast airport i had all my electrical gear in my hand luggage, camera, cam corder, ipod, hair dryer & straighteners (the wifes), travel plugs and they stopped me and x-rayed everything again plus wiped them for explosive dust, we went through early but by the time they checked all my gear we just got into duty free and they called our flight, talk about somebody being a jobs worth, everyone working that day seemed to be one

Would it not just be easier to take something like an iPod? A fraction of the size and weight and you can buy travel speakers for them which also fold up small.

im sure you get speakers at the pound shop for an i pod
i put mine in a wine glass and this doubles the volume try at home first incase its not loud enough for you

An mp3 player and travel speakers is really the only way to go. No more carrying loads of cd's and a bulky cd player and you can use it on the beach without annoying fellow sun worshipers :D .
