Travelling alone

Postby 1974travelbug » 28 Mar 2009 14:17

Hi All
I am 34 and female. Well travelled, in Turkey and other places but wondered what your views were to me going alone to Icmeler.

I have been there a number of times and know my way around very well in fact I feel so at home there, it seems like my second home. I know a few restaurant owners and such like but where would you suggest I stay as I am finding package companies add on such a supplement with me being on my own.

I'd quite like somewhere in the old village as I love the walk down to the town and beach each day. I've got no fear of meeting people so I don't mind somewhere that'll be busy that time of year. Also, how is everyone finding the flights for July, any recommendations?

Would love some feedback.
Many thanks

Look up to the top of the page and call the phone number that is there as this is a travel agents website and will arrange it for you

Thanks for that. I'm aware that this is a travel agent web site but what I wanted was people's views as to a woman travelling to Icmeler alone.

Maybe some people on here do it all the time and get along fine, whether they feel safe or not, where they go to eat etc.

Lots of single women book through us and really all good friends now as they never eat or drink alone unless they want to as they all make friends so easily

Hi i had been to icemeler many times with my husband and went on my own in october 2007 after he left in the September (took him back in the december - unfortunately lol) it was a holiday we had booked together so i was a bit wary of going on my own but thought what the hell and went anyway, stayed for 10 days and it was the best thing i ever did. I stayed at the Diva because wezhad stayed there before and the staff are fantastic, especially our grate friends NaZ, Ozzy and July in the bar, they care about people and watched out for me. As is always the case in Icemeler every one was so friendly, British and Turkish folk alike and i met up with lots of friends, again Turkish and British, it was just what i needed. Had a great time the weather was fantastic, people great, never felt threatened or lonely, went back home refreshed and on top of the world, would do it again at the drop of a hat. We went again last year and met a guy from Aberdeen, Keith who was there on his own and we are friends to this day, in fact he came down to stay with us a few weeks ago. Friendships made in Icemeler are friendships that last. My advice would be go for it you have everything to gain. Re flights i got two weeks ftrom the 27th of June with ****** staying at the hotel i wanted (the private) for £420 each a bargain! hope you book up i am there from 27th June to 11th July if you do. Cheers : :

hey travelbug
I'd take admin up on their offer - holidays are expensive enough without having supplements to pay!!
ICR are great, and they'll come up with the right aparts/hotel for what you want and their prices are great too
as for going to Icmeler alone - you'll not be alone for long! like someone's already said, everyone there is soooo friendly you'll have a ball
best still, you can do exactly what you want, when you want

ICR can also look after any excursions you fancy while you're there
what they don't know/can't do, you could write on the back of a very small stamp

chances are you'll meet some of us forum folk too - check out the threads for whenever it is that you're going cos lots of us have got our names on there

have a great time 8)

Hi ya
Just read all the posts back to me and I am so glad I posted my message now. It has made me confirm to myself that it is totally ok to go alone.

I bet your all wondering why the hell I have no friends that will come with me. Well, most of them are married, have kids or can't get out of work. I, luckily have a very understanding boss and a second job that allows me to save up for 3 hols a year.

I actually have mentioned going to one of my friends Russ who is mulling over the idea.

Even if Russ decides not to go, I am definitely going to go alone. Thanks again for your help in making my decision.
