Sun Lotions...?

Postby LisaJM07 » 23 Feb 2009 13:57

Hi Everyone!

I suffer from quite sensitive skin, so some sun tan lotions can irritate my skin, leaving me with sore, red rashes. Can anyone recommend any tried and tested sun lotions that dont irretate sensitive skin?

Any suggestions would be a great help.

I know this is way too early to be thinking of this at the moment (i go away in August!) But work is quiet and the thought of my holiday is keeping me sane... :P

Thanks

Piz Buin is excellent for sensitive skin.

Both my daughter and I have very sensitive skin and we have both had problems in the past. I've tried various different lotions, but someone recommended a Piz Buin one which is specifically marked for sensitive skin and allergies. We both used it for our two trips to Icmeler last year and it was very very good indeed. I'll certainly be using it again. I think it's quite a high factor too - SPF30, if I remember rightly.
Meant to add, there's a thread on the holiday truths website (link to the website from this site) which is all about sun tans, which has some useful hints and tips on it . I think it's in the general enquiries and advice section.

Get Piz Buin's 1 day long, it's much better (not gloopy and hard to rub in and transferes onto anything it comes into contact with like the P20) and if you're lucky you can get it from boots on 2 for 1. It's about £20 for a 200ml bottle/tube and lasts aaaaaaaaaages as you only need to put it on once in the morning about 20mins before you go into the sun.

We've used it for the last 3 years and wouldn't use anything else, so good not to have to keep reapplying lotion every 5 mins. Altho I do like to top up on the areas I tend to burn (forehead, feet and shoulders) if I've been swimming, it says you don't have to but I like to just to be on the safe side. We use SPF8 and SPF15 one day long and I carry a little tube of SPF30 for sensitive areas.

Edited to say you DO get a good tan through it and it smells gorgeous !!!!

Hi Lisa

My sun allergy's so bad that I look like I've got some sort of unclean affliction and sun cream makes it worse

I've tried Piz Buin sensitive and also oil free but it wasn't very good waterproof-wise and sort of clumped into lots of little bits

I swear by Simple sun cream, best still it goes for miles and 2 bottles last me the whole fortnight
ANd I usually get it bogoff in Boots

Compair the prices at Boots and Superdrug first as they usually have them 2 for 1.

Meant to say, we were recommended the piz Buin 1 day long by a red head with lily white skin who burns to a crisp usually and has never burnt in the sun since they discovered Piz Buin 1 day long.

Oooo and you can buy them in little sachets with enough for one application if you wanted to try out different SPF strengths.

I like most men with sensitive skin just buy the cheapest factor 8 to 12 that i can find.the other half who just has to look at the sun to tan buys the most expensive, moisturising, anti wrinkle, bronzing, with accelerator and toner that she can find.

Last September discovered either from this site or holidaytruths matalan do a pf20 type suntan lotion and it was only £5/6 for a bottle and it was great so will be once again heading to matalan to buy it for this year :)

We had also taken a normal suntan lotion just incase this didn't do the trick but it definately does!

Another fan of Piz Buin here. I used to get prickly heat but since using the Piz Buin oil free I have not had it. Just waiting for them to do the buy one get one free offer in Boots, usually about April time.

Went to Home Bargin yesterday they didn't have the one day long so I've bought 200ml from ebay for £9.99 plus postage and the tan intensifier after sun lol
