Dodge am sure from Calis is not too far from Patara beach. If you get a chance, pay a visit it is breathtaking. The beach is pure white sandy beach, 18 KM (have been 10 times) but the ambience is not like Icmeler. It is a real rural village, traditional Turkish, and an true experience. If we didn't have the kids we would visit again and again, it was our honeymoon destination

Me and Rami stopped at Calis once while on our travels and though we enjoyed visiting all the places en route from Antalya this one to us just seemed to be a British enclave full of people from the UK buying up cheap newly built properties (well thats what we were told by the locals) and they all seem to be for sale.

You should though check other places in Turkey to compare with Icmeler and I have been to all the beach resorts and also to the main cities and in my opinion there is no place the same as Icmeler but there are other places which have their own charm too.

thank goodness we've got you to road test everywhere else Admin
to be honest, we've only ever been to Icmeler and daren't go anywhere else in case it doesn't match up
we'd planned on spreading our wings a bit now the kids are bigger and were hoping to escape and try elsewhere on our own
however, #1 daughter has made us proud grandparents and it'd be rude not to take them both to Icmeler so everyone can meet him

i used to go calis beach for many years. its alot smaller witha lot fewer bars and entertainment than icmeler. many of the restaurants and bars are located on the sea front which is nice as calis is famous for its sunsets, they are lovely and worth catching. When i used to go calis used to be prone to power cuts, however this may have changed now. Calis is alot quieter than icmeler and doesnt have lots going on entertainment wise. For bars i would recommend Josephs (lovely man) or bus stop. I would also advise a water taxi from calis to fetiye. hope this helps! x

We are heading there for a week in May before heading to Icmeler for our second week, thought we should try somewhere else but at least we have Icmeler to look forward to.
