Icmeler winter update

Postby shaz » 21 Jan 2009 19:19

The Golden Moon restaurant just up from Bonjour on the corner has been demolished, and aparently some new shops are being putting up there but i do hear there will be a new restaurant at the rear of the building.

The Kaktus bar is open this winter, alongside Florida, Three Bells,Babadan & Bonjour.

Two sisters restaurant has gone at the moment and the Galleria Hotel has been bought out by the Oylum group all to become part of their group of accomodations.

Last year the Bella Mare was closed, and this winter work has started on the hotel .

The weather was between 14 and 17 degrees each day last week just getting cooler in the evenings and late afternoon. The locals are fishing from the harbour and along the beachfront, and slowly Icmeler is getting ready for another season ahead.

2 sisters closed as in closed forever?? Poor old Sabou if it is, he's a nice man struggling to keep people interested in his business.
He said he was having a hard time of it last year, so I did wonder.

What are they doing with the Bella mare? We stayed there a couple of years ago and it was nasty! Heard they rented out rooms last summer.

Oh i forget to tell you the new TL (Turkish Lira)Notes are out in icmeler at the bank.

There alot smaller than the old YTL notes, remind me of monopoly money. The old YTL note is still in use, but dont be surprised if you receive some new money when you exchange here or in icmeler now, as these new notes just came into force in January 2009.

The main change is all new notes just have TL, meaning they have dropped the Y, which previous stood for New , when they changed over and dropped all the zeros.

Ang, those photos are brilliant, it's like a ghost town!
Seems so weird to see nothing, not even chairs and tables out.
Not long til they will be making their comeback though :D
