Hello Everyone

Postby teac532s » 10 Jan 2009 20:06

Just wanted to say Hello and Happy new year to all and ask for some advice. Last year myself , wife and siblings stayed in the old village , first time in Turkey (Daphne Apartments) and fell in Love with Icmeler straight away so much so that we booked for June this year as soon as we got home last year. We have booked for Eden Garden Village Apartments for 2 weeks and while I have read all the good reviews i was just wondering if you were able to hire a safe deposit box in the apartments. Can anyone advise.

Thank You

Hello and Welcom to the forum

I have not stayed at those apartments but have been to diffrent ones each time we have been most apartments will hire you a depoist box which will be either located at reception where by you will need two keys to open one which you keep and one which the owner has or you will have the normal type which will be in your room where you have the only key to it for the duration of your stay
I am sure one of the forum members will have stayed there in the past and they will be able to help you futher

Thanks all. Counting the days now and saving hard. One more question. While we were there we became friendly with a local shopkeeper who helped us out with shopping etc. I have read that most muslims dont drink but I want to take him a gift when we go back and I had thought of a bottle of fine Irish whiskey , being as I live in Northern Ireland, but I would hate to offend him if he did not drink. Can anyone suggest anything else that I could take as a good gift to say thanks for all the help he gave us last year.

Hi Teac532s
Welcome
If it is the shop which used to be the old "Stonehouse Bar ",150yds down the road on the right heading into town, I dont think whiskey will be a problem, we know them very well, its our local shop when we are over there
We use the apartments opposite the Daphne, and down a bit behind the old Gem apartments
Regards

Hi Peli

Says Kosems on the outside and the jeeps stop there every morning , near a bridge across to the Grand Aquarium. Is this the same one? Sounds like it , just down from Daphne on the corner

Yes thats the one, he used to drive trucks all over europe in his earlier days, and is very western orientated, as is a lot of the Turkish people in the buisnesses of a holiday resort, and if they dont actually drink alcohol they will have it in their homes.
I think he will appreciate the kind gesture.

In fact next time Im in he might offer "me" a glass :D :D

Cooooooeeeeee Peli is your compass back to front again.

The Stonehouse restaurant was on the bend at the end of the Turunc road and was closed down last year and I think it was just a shop then.

It is not on the way INTO town from the Eden it is actually away from town from the EDEN on the left.

I could be wrong of course but it is the place I used to hide away in some afternoons

Sorry Admin, I am "right" this time :D :D

You are right about it being on the corner/ split with the Torunc road and the road up to the Julian, opposite near enough to the Grand Aquireum
But the property mentioned wasnt the Eden ?, It was the Daphne, I think Teac was refaring to when he was visiting a shop last year.

In regard to the location and the name we are both right,

But someone  has missread the post . :o :o
Got the Daphne and the Eden mixed -up ???

A Happy Peli
:D :D
PS
Colettes going to shout at us

Hi teac532s,
We stay at the Eden Gardens and the safety deposit box is located in the bedroom. If you have not stayed there before you won't be disappointed, in fact I am sure you will be booking again for next year! If you want any info you could pm me as it is not icr accomodation.

Hi teac532s,
We have stayed at Eden Garden for the last five years and will be going back again in August. Like Julie W said the safety deposit boxes are in the room and you get the key when you arrive with your room key. A small fee of £7 pounds a week is the cost for the box.

You could always give your shopkeeper friend a bottle of Raki!!!!

Sorry Admin but for your information The Stonehouse as been a supermarket for the last two years now.

Hi Narky

Had thought about a bottle of Raki but thought something from back home would be more thoughtful. I believe the food is good in Eden Gardens. As we stayed in the Daphne last year and they did not serve food we went to Tommys every night and I must say the food was superb and the price was quite reasonable. Lovely friendly place Tommys. Not saying anything bad bout Daphne as we enjoyed it and the fact we had to out for food suited us as we like to sample different places anyway though as we arrive late afternoon in Eden Gardens will be looking to get something to eat as soon as we arrive as the pitstop on the way to Icmeler is not great lol

I like Tommys aswell, we stayed at Grand Aquarium he year before last, went to tommys for breakfast every day and had a couple of evening meals there. We actually took a walk there one day last June just for the breaskfast. It was quite a hike from where we were staying but was worth it.

We also did the walk from Kurt apartments to Tommys, thankfully Tommy gave us a lift back. Poor kids were shattered

Hi teac532s,

if you like Tommys and thought it was a lovely friendly place, take him some bisto gravey or HP sauce and let him show his appreciation.
Tommys english is excellant and his brother Mehmet is taking lessons and gets better every year.

Back at Eden gardens the food is really good and Mario, Marti and Mama Mario will do everything they can to ensure you enjoy your stay. We have come back at night been at the bar late and they think nothing of going into the kitchen when you get the munchies!!!!!!
