Roll on 2009

Postby sylvnclive » 25 Oct 2008 13:14

The newsletter from ICR has said that the pound is expected to top 3 lira to the pound, Venice are selling Efes at present for 1 YTl and I've also heard a rumour from a friend who owns a bar of longer hours for music and dancing. The midnight threshold may go to 1am or possibly 1 30 am dependant upon local conditions.

I'll be saving up ready!!

Sorry but I hope not, I feel midnight is ample for the raging music over there, that was this year.

I for one will be cutting my ties with Icmeler should that happen.

The pound topping 3 lira is excellent news :D

The Venice selling Efes for 1YTL was a ploy to gain customers and business after there 3 day closure, and it worked , well done to them :D

I agree with Colette, 12 is a decent time to turn music down, if you want all night music then head for Marmaris. If Icmeler is to remain a family resort (which I must admit it I have my doubts about as its becoming an extension of Marmaris), then they should retain the midnight threshold. I know in August when you walked along towards ZaZa's, that corner where the Blue Rainbow/First Moon/Dream 3 Bells and Amalia are, it was totally unbearable. I certainly wouldn't go to any of those bars till they turn the volume down. I know I sound like an old fuddy duddy but I like music and a good night out like most people but there really is no need for that kind of volume. If I could complain to someone about it I would, but not sure who to address my complaint to. Any ideas?

hi dotty..i would say the same as yourself, we too think that Icmeler has to be careful or it will go the same way as Marmaris which would be a pity as the reason we all go to Icmeler is for a nice relaxed holiday, with music of course, but not to the extent that you cant hear yourself speaking to the person sitting next to you, we actually walked out of the bar opposite Linekers this year without finishing our drinks, as it was so unbelievably loud..jacqui.....
ps: can you believe this weather we are having...

if there is an extension to the music then i have to say, it will put us off....

i like to hear myself think.....

it also puts me off going to some of the bars i like, as they are close to boom boom bars who just want to out do each other.......

love the idea of 3 lira to the £ tho :D

I am another one who thinks that midnight is a good cut off point for the music.
After 12 is when the talking is done and we can speak to our fellow holiday makers and waiter friends.

I'm the same, midnight is the correct time, if you want it later go to Marmaris or Falaraki/Ibiza type places.

The last thing I want to see is Icmeler to come popular with the 18/30 holiday type crowd and if it does go that way I for one will be looking for somewhere else.

I believe the council web site is http://www.icmeler.bel.tr/ can anyone who has a knowledge of Turkish see contact details on the web site so I can write and state my objection to music going on later.

I think I have found it, I believe it is at http://www.icmeler.bel.tr/index.php?modul=08_02

EDIT: There is a direct email addy [email protected]

Nice one Dave

While I was in Icmeler this year I met through ZaZa a local reporter, He is interested in all things to do with Icmeler and wants the Brits opinions on Icmeler, esp as a winter resort.

I have his name and email addy if anyone wants it also, as he is writing a local Icmeler paper and this would be a good way to bring it to peoples attention over there that we don't want it past 12.

Anyone who wants his details please pm me as I don't want to post his email addy on the open forum.

NOTE: I shall be out for a few hours but will get back to you :D

Obviously, the 3 lira to a pound speaks for itself - it's great news.

As for the new threshold of 1am, if it happens, I can see where these split views are coming from. I don't see the problem with it changing if I'm honest. Holidays are to have fun on and when I'm there in the summer there's still quite a few people in pubs/bars/resteraunts at this time. Some people do move on back to their hotel or apartments but I think this is because the music has went off and the atmosphere isn't very good.

Yes, you do come on holiday to relax but you come for a good and fun time as well.

I'd also expect this threshold to go back down to 12 when it gets to late september/october.

I really hope they dont extend the opening hours to 1a.m. as I think it will be the downfall of Icmeler.
Midnight is just right as you can stay on and have a quiet chat with all your friends or have a slow stroll back to your hotel/apartments.

I think if they start with the later music a lot of middle aged and older people will stop going to Icmeler and it will turn into another 18-30 resort.

I'm not old and I'm not grumpy :) .
This is just my opinion.

Well I for one would be in favour of a 1a.m music cut-off time because the music doesn't usually start until 10o'clock [ish] most nights and midnight does sometimes feel a tad earlier. Maybe everyone could reach a compromise of times they feel would be appropriate, I suggest 12:30 :P
And then there is still enough time to hit Pleasure and then Bar Street, who's with me?!

I'm not Amy. If you're going to Pleasure and Bar Street then you don't need the Icmeler bars to be playing music any later than 12.

Can we not have a forum poll on this topic, then the results could be conveyed to the appropriate authorities?

I just hope they turn down the music at midnight, we stayed at the devamli and the bar across the road played music till 1.30/2 am and it was the same cd played over and over again
