Why Icmeler

Just wondering how did you choose Icmeler for your first holiday there
I fell in love with a picture of the bay.

I went into the travel agents and asked for the cheapest deal they had for a fortnight leaving that Friday

I used to holiday in Marmaris, but we went to Icmeler one evening, just to have a change of scenery and we had a fantastic night in the Red Lion.

I came home and booked for Marmaris for the following April 30th for 2 weeks, but then I found this forum and ICR as a holiday company.

Never looked back since and never returned to Marmaris, except to visit friends who we have made over the years of holidaying there.

Dont get me wrong, I still love Marmaris, and always return to visit, but Icmeler just pushes the right buttons and makes us feel at home.

My other half had been before we met. Convinced me to go even though I had never fancied Turkey for a hol. Best risk I ever took.

We had been to Turkey 8 times beforeIcmeler, but always to a tiny, rural village (Patara), apart from the beach there, which was voted one of the world's best, there is not a lot else to do. When the children came along we needed somewhere with more to do but still with the right mix of 'traditional Turkey'. Icmeler hits all the right buttons, enough to keep little ones happy and at the same time keeping mum and dad happy with the lovely ambience which is truly Turkish, the old village with traditional Turkey and of course the Effes We went to Icmeler the first time after I had been reading this forum for months

Pretty much the same story as Mary and Phill.

Had been to Marmaris 9 times and only ventured into Icmeler on a Wednesday for the market.

We always said we wouldn't like to stay, as there didn't seem to be much going on.

The last time we stayed in Marmaris and once again went to the market on the Wednesday, we didn't buy much, so decided to have a good look round Icmeler.

We stopped for a drink (as you do), and they asked us to eat there that night. We explained that we were staying in Marmaris, and they said they would pick us up and take us back which they did.

To say we were pleasantly surprised would be an understatement. We loved it.

Needless to say we have been going to Icmeler ever since, but still have 1 night in Marmaris every holiday to catch up with old friends.

We have some friends staying in Marmaris while we are there next week, (this will be their 24th time and they have never been to Icmeler).

They are coming to meet us on the 5th of October for a night out. So who knows, next year Icmeler might have another couple of converts.

My best friend was going with her Mum and Stepdad,she asked a friend who said yes but then changed her mind so she asked me.

We went May 2004 for a week and it was brilliant.I have been going every year since and the holiday i have just come back from was my 10th time in them 4 years!!

We had been to Olu Deniz and Hisaronu, and had wanted to try somewhere else. Our friends had been to Icmeler some year previous, and said they enjoyed it, so we booked in 2002 and have been going back ever since.

Even my hubby likes it there and is quite happy to go back each year too.

A neighbour came back and said what a beautiful place it was, we had never fancied Turkey before but decided to give it a go. That was nine years ago and we now go two or three times a year, dont want to go anywhere else. We have met some lovely people both local and holiday makers and have more friends there than we do at home. We are on the way again at 7.0.a.m. in the morning so see you all then (26th September). Growing the grass for the skirt for the boat trip.

My parents had been to Marmaris a couple of times, and then visited Icmeler for a change one year. They really praised the place, so when me and the missus decided to go to Turkey for the first time, we arent really into Clubs, and the whole rabbly type of atmos that I'd been told there is around Marmaris, we decided to try Icmeler, and have never looked back since.

We went on a family holiday a couple of years ago, with my parents and hers, and we decided becuase her younger sister was getting to the age of going drinking, and clubs etc, we would all go to Marmaris, and for us it would be a bit of a change of scenery.

Never again. We stayed outside of the main area (Pasa Beach Hotel on the main road) so werent in the whole roudyness of Bar Street, but the local bars just seemed to always want to rip you off, and aside from a few places, it just did not have the appeal of Icmeler.

After the first week, me and the wife decided to get a Dolmus into Icmeler every night, and see our friends there rather than hang around in Marmaris.

Now when we go to Icmeler, we only usually do 1 trip to Marmaris, and that is really just for a ride on the taxi boat, and get a kebab from one of the little stalls down Bar Street, that serve the best donner I've ever tasted.

My parents went in 2003 after my dad finally convinced my mam to try Turkey. Now they go every year.
In 2005 I tagged along with them expecting to find it dirty and possibly smelly but got a pleasant suprise and now I go every year!!

my mum has been every year for the past 15years, in fact she is there now, the lucky thing! She has always said she feels like shes home as soon as she arrives there. We finally decided to see what all the fuss was about and try it for ourselves last year. We went back again this august and are planning our next visit for next year. We love it. There is something about driving down towards icmeler and the sight of that gorgeous bay that draws you back time and time again.

always read holiday truths.......and found excellent reviews on icmeler, then found this site and read it through.....so we booked to visit icmeler.....

the rest is history, in 22 yrs of going abroad i have NEVER found anywhere i wanted to go back too for a 2nd stay........until we found icmeler.......it just draws you in ..
