I love it the first day when you walk down the street and people are welcoming you back. To me there's no better feeling and you wouldn't experience it anywhere else in the world.
One of our friends is travelling from Istanbul just to spend 3 days with us, we met him in icmeler 3 years ago and keep in touch on MSN.
I've holidayed in many places, and I couldn't tell you a waiters name in any other country.

Yeah I know what you mean, mine were just little concerns. I am no where near ready to say I will not be going back. I will definately be going back next year.
I intended to go back next month or early october, but I have just started a new job so didn't think it would be right going away so soon after starting.
But I love the place and will def be back year after year for a good few years to come.

Well what can I say that hasn't already been said?
Except, Icmeler is the most beautiful place I have been. I have been all over the world and Icmeler is the only place I have ever returned to (really wanted to return to) time and time again.
I love the fact that when you return, you see the familiar faces you met the year before, and the fact that they may have changed bars or restaurants, they recognise you the minute you walk in the door - and the welcome you get is second to none. For instance, we went to Blue Rainbow this year for a drink on my husbands birthday, and a waiter (Zidane) who worked in the dream boys the year before had remembered us, he welcomed us and even my husbands name! Despite the thousands of people they see each year, they still remember you. I believe the Turkish people are by far the friendliest of all the places I have been. I have made lots of true friends, who will be friends for life.
When you are on the transfer couch and just approaching Icmeler, my heart skips a beat, as I feel I'm coming home.
I love the pine mountains, the crystal clear water, the smells as you walk through the village.
In fact, I cannot think of anything that I don't love about Icmeler, otherwise, I wouldn't have booked up for next year as soon as I came back in July.

I love the smell of the place - anyone else know what I mean? If I could bottle it, I would, just to keep me going till the next time.

Lets face it, if Icmeler was run by Spaniards, I would never return, so that says it all for me. Its the people who make our holidays so brilliant.
Where else would you get the hospitality of these young (some older)Turkish men who work all the hours god sends, but always greet you with a welcome home and a smile.
I also agree with all the other things that have been written too.
Roll on 5 weeks Friday.

Like most others I put my ten cents in on the other posts about Icmeler changing, however it doesn't put me off and hopefully as they are just small things they can be rectified.
There are so many things that I love about Icmeler I wouldn't know where to start!! As someone else said the smell of the pine mountains and the views of them too are towards the top of the list.
And the view as you come back from the airport and see Marmaris and Icmeler across the bay spread out before you, its amazing and as someone else said you know then that you are home. But the view when you just come into Icmeler from Marmaris and you see the bay and the whole of the resort is just as amazing. When I worked as a rep out there no matter how long a shift you had done at the airport or how many people had shouted at you etc it was all worth it when you saw that view and knew you were nearly home!
I too also love the people, the imam calling, the general noises you get. I love that you can always get a bus and you can catch it anywhere instead of walking ages to a bus stop and waiting forever for a bus to come. I love all the fresh fruit and veg, and going to the weekly market and getting to try before you buy on almost all the food!! I love how safe I feel there and that I know I have so many friends and family out there that I will always have someone to rely on if I need them.
I love that its got everything for everyone in one place and most of all I just love that in the summer the sun is usually shining and everyone looks happy!!!

Couple of things that stand out for me.
The Calling to Prayer, I love to hear this. Also the smell of Jasmine as you walk down the roads etc.
I love all the other things to, like the friendliness of the people and everthing you guys have mentioened.
Oh yes and I love the streets and pavements, weird I know ha ha but I love walking on the little "almost" cobblestones but flatter.

We have never ever had a third consecutive holiday in one place but we will be back in Icmeler next month. To us, we have found the "Wee Toon" with sunshine and the same friendly people that we are used to on a daily basis. If we could invent a resort, the model would be our home town, beamed up Scotty, and placed in Icmeler.
It's great to see a positive and encouraging post by like minded people on the forum after all the negativity that has been posted recently.

One of the main things I love about Icmeler is the trust.
I know if I went into a Supermarket at home and they had no change or I had insufficient funds on me, I wouldn't get the produce, but in Icmeler and other parts of Turkey its more a case of - "pay me later".

I second that about if it were run by spaniards I wouldn't return. I will be going to Gran Canaria in December. Not really by choice just want to go away before the year is out, and only place warm that time of year.
The Spanish just don't know how to be polite to customers, and there hassle can be alot worse than Icmeler. Only difference is in Icmeler hassle is friendly and light hearted, the Spanish can be aggresive with it sometimes.

just to let you no iv heard icmeler is on even ground not like gumbet which is full of steep slopes so therefore hopefully noone will be going home in casts and crutches like i seen quite afew at airport in gumbet .therefore icmeler has got to be abetter place because i dont think these broken legs were a coincidencei think it was a lot to do with climbing hills when they didnt really want a climbing holiday

After a bad experience at Dalaman last May we said that we would not be going back, but what the heck, we have booked to go again next May.
What you have all said on this thread is 100% true, there is nowhere else like Icmeler, the people are a delight to behold, and what Reesy said about trust is true as well, we had proof of this when a Jeweller told us to take a ring and send him the money, the ring was £1800, where else would that happen.
Heaven is where your heart is and our's are in Icmeler, thank God we are able to change our minds.

On our first night there we had our last drink of the night in Friends bar. The next night we decided to spend a night there,as we walked to a table one of the boys came straight over and said I have something for you. It was only my camera i,d left the night before.I did,nt even know i,d left it. Where else in the world would that happen.Needless to say we spent a few night in there .A lovely bar with lovely people,Aptly named FRIENDS
