I mentioned in an earlier post somewhere its heading towards a

"Monopoly",

But I wonder if the monopolies commision will ever step in on this???

Mind you, knowing this bloody lot!!, "The Goverment"..Well!!!

Peli

Probably wont step in.

The problem is now there is no competetion. Onur air are cheap if you get in there early but if you don't get in there early they can actually be the most expensive. I am hopeing Jet2 will be cheap when they fly to Dalaman, but I read something a while ago and he was saying he wouldn't be suprised if they go under. Mind you saying that he is always makeing outlandish remarks about competitors.

I'm sorry for the language here but why the bloody hell are we surprised that the robbing b******** wouldn't leech us when a competitor goes under. Lets face it they dont give a toss about the likes of the normal man and woman in the street, they want to line their pockets. I would like to know what the credit card companys are going to do now with all the compensation when you pay by credit card...you bet your arse things will change.

I am Joe Soap who should know nothing about anything, yet I knew around a month or more ago that XL were due to go belly up because Barclays could no longer finance their massive £170 million pound debt.

This was in the public domain yet ABTA, ATOL, BAA and all and sundry did not know that this was about to happen. Heads in the sand or what? Cynic me? Yes :!:

There must be a larger agenda involved especially when you see the immedaite response from the two big players, do I have to mention them, who are probably supporting and massaging our Government in some shape or form. In the following day's papers the big two had adverts in place to try and help the poor punters . This was pre-prepared and ready for insertion with advance knowledge.

Holiday makers have been treated as cattle since cheap flights/holidays began and this will not change under any government.

I totaly agree withn you on this one. If the 2 big players had an inkling that this was going to happen, then surely some one within our goverment must also of known, and if so why did they allow them to carry on trading and taking peoples hard earnt savings when they were on the brink of going under? They have stated on TV that they must allow them to keep trading to see if they could recover and make a u turn , but any one with any brains would know that if you are £170 million in the red a few thousand holiday makers bookings would not of helped them out of the situation they were in. In respect of the credit card insurance, I wonder how long it will be before they will not cover you for flights or holidays. That would be a big blow to all of us all who use the cards as a bit of insurance, and, all caused because those who knew it was going to happen, let it. If I was the credit card insurer I would sue the a**e of those who allowed it to carry on.

It's so good to hear you've found another holiday, I hope the sharks don't sell any holidays to vulnerable people , they don't deserve the custom, on the back of such upset! Have a great holiday.

my daughters holiday on 29th sept has been cancelled and she was flying from belfast to dalaman on a t....... C.......flight. The reason being she has been told is that the company she booked with depended on a lot of profit makin from xl and now that they are no more, then the travel company is now also no more

Was that not the name that K&S were trading under? So it's not another firm, but part of the same one?

The lady said why is there a problem to which the re-ply was not that i am aware off but better to be safe than sorry.
