Bit Annoyed Today

Just heard from my good mate Aziz who was working at Aysima that he has been sacked for 'getting the restaurant shut down'. I was there on the night in question and he was talking to a dutch woman about of all things a whistle shaped sweet! The police accused him of hassling and would not even listen to what we had to say.

The owner seemed fine with it and promised us his job was ok. The restaurant closed for one week on monday and the owner sacked him.

We ate and drank there most nights this year but i wont step foot in there next year.

Eric, this is a growing problem in Icmeler. While I understand the anti hassle laws, I think the police are taking things to the extreme. It's got to the point where you're scared to talk to any of your friends outside of the restaurants/bars for fear of getting them closed down.
Surely the police could investigate places only when they have receive3d a specific complaint about them and leave us to enjoys our holidays and our friends.
We know for a fact that two years ago a restaurant owner put in a complaint to the police about another restaurant because we were standing outside talking to someone that we have known for years.

hi erik,

that's terrible for Aziz. He's such a nice bloke and I always seek him out when we're in icmeler.

Thanks to your recent pictures I knew he was working in Aysima and was going to be popping in to see him for a few chats while we're there over the next couple of weeks.

hope he gets sorted with other work soon, times have been hard enough for him over the years.

We go to icmeler on friday but if you hear anything about his whereabouts before then could you possibly let me know. it would be a shame to miss him.

I dont know Aziz, but I feel sorry for him for getting sacked.

I think the Police should investigate before closing places down. If they are there and see one of the waiters talking to someone, why dont they ask the person if they are being hassled, instead of assuming its all hassle.

Thats a shame he is such a nice guy. We met him at the Masala last year and then this year he recognised us when we went past Asyima. We went for a meal in there and it was only because of Aziz. After what the boss has done to him we wont be back

I'm sure Aziz will find a job soon. He is just a lovely person. We saw him quite a few times while we were in Icmeler during August. We remember him when he was working at Mr Chef Restaurant up in the Old Village. It was only by chance that we saw him this year. Somebody called my name from over the road and it was him. We were so glad to see him. He told us that he will be working as a Painter and Decorator during the winter months.

The Police need to get their act together, and not act on impulse.

Thats a great shame.Aziz is a fantastic bloke & we had many a great conversation with him when we were in icmeler at the end of may,beginning of june while he was working at popinns.Theres not an ounce of hassle in him.You couldn't meet a nicer,more caring & friendly bloke anywhere.He would give you his last lira if you needed it.Erik please keep us informed where he is as we go back at the end of the month.

hmm, they seem to be very selective in who they choose NOT to close down

Totally agree, pity they don't believe their EARS around some bars :shock:

Sorry I had to mention it yet again, police really do need to get their priorities right though.

This police buisness,
Might be a bit dodgy, saying this, obviusly I wont mention the bar.
I have on a very regular occasion seen a couple of "local plod" appear mid-morning, and sit at the bar like a pair of giggling school girls, nibbling nuts and having a drink and although Ive tried I have not managed to see a, "sealed brown envalope" passed over,

But it makes you think!!, why are they very regular in this??
when supposedly on duty !!

Agreed. They bribe every resteraunt in Icmeler.

Sorry I just had to post another reply about this as I'm angry about what happened. We didn't eat at night in Asyma but we had a few drinks there on a few occasions and breakfast there once (well they had black pudding and hubby dived right in!). But honestly a nicer guy you could not wish to meet. When we had breakfast there he chatted to us and he did ask if we would come back one night for a meal and we said "maybe". He said "OK no hassle - I don't hassle" and we didn't think that he did. We still had a good old chin wag with him and he was so lovely. However another so called "fun pub" where we ate on more than one occasion and where we spent a heck of a lot of money hassled us if we walked past without going in! Where's the justice? Maybe have to make a stand and not go into either of them again
