Flight Costs

12 Sep 2008 12:07

Just been watching the BBC news and a lady reported that in half an hour major companies had increased flight prices from £300 to over £1000 per seat!!

cash in on peoples misery why dont you!

12 Sep 2008 12:24

Its just plain greed.I think people would understand if they were told that most of their costs were predictable like hotels, wages etc.But fuel is volitile so if fuel goes up by a certain margin they need to put costs up to pay for it.But if fuel comes down they would reduce prices.
That would be fair.
If companies are selling their products at a loss then the whole travel industry will be effected by a company collapse. In the long run it does nobody any good.
Holidays are such an emotional product for people as its a once (or more if you are lucky)year purchase.
I am not sure if it hurts CEO's enough when they take their company down.

12 Sep 2008 12:27

the problem is people will pay it .i can see a lot more airlines going bust its always best to pay by credit card least you get back your money.

12 Sep 2008 12:45

Ive been selling these all morning and have been watching them go up in price and then sell out all morning.

This is also having a knock on affect for next years flights as these are now also rising as people are booking what is left quickly

12 Sep 2008 13:16

yes pay with a credit card as you will be able to get a refund....NOT SO WITH A DEBIT CARD. YOU LOOSE IT ALL.

ticket hike

12 Sep 2008 13:35

mr brown and his so called government could step in ,and stop these robbers making a ticket price killing..will they ?,,,,, will thet heckers like. again its rip off britain. bill atkinson

Dead right, It sickens me to think they do this! I've just posted a story on the post "any other companies," fortunately my friends got the flight before the company increased their prices.

I wonder if this is what card I have. I dont have any Visa cards, but my current account is a debit card which also says Visa.

12 Sep 2008 19:36

Ressy
The same here!!, our debit cards have the" visa" motive on them
Did not properly understand what the guy said on radio.
Hope someone can enlighten us

onur air are big in turkey top 50 company .im a bit concerned XL are blaming fuel cost and credit crunch from experts saying internal problems instead blaming current fuel and economic conditions look internal

12 Sep 2008 19:45

Peli on this occassion I will definitely allow it and my guess is scot travel as I have been on this myself all day and they got a flight from freebird sorted.

Ok not the best of airlines but at least they pulled out all the stops and all these people will get there.
