I have a second hand Nokia mobile that i need to get to my friend Aziz in the Aysima restaurant. If i post it there is no way it will get there, would someone be willing for me to send to them in the UK and they take out with them and give to him.

Phones from the UK now get blocked in Turkey, after a month or so if they are not registered. To register it you need the original receipt from when you bought it. My husband took a phone over for a friend in June and he had to go to Marmaris to the council offices with his passport and orignial receipt and sign some papers to ensure it didnt get blocked, it cost about a tenner I think. I think your phone would end up getting blocked after a while and would no longer work for your friend.

If you send the original receipt they may know another customer who can go with them to Marmaris to sign the papers and say they brought it but not entirely sure. Its all to do with the turkish govt trying to keep illegal imports to a minimum and increasing the turkish economy as they get a lot of mobiles coming in to turkey from the middle east which results in money going out of the country. Just thought I would let you know and then you can dig out the reciept and sent that too.

Thanks for your comment but phones are only blocked by certain networks, there are many ways round it and as the phone im giving is not assigned to any network it will work fine on Turkcell

I know this is slightly off-topic, but if you are staying for a longer period (say six months) would your UK phone still get blocked? Do you have to do something to ensure you can still use it while you're in Turkey, then?

Faber appartments are next door to Angels bar near the old town. Also nearby is a bar called Dejavu, does anybody know it?.
