Ok, so you are advising people to feed the rabbits something that has no nutritional value?
Anyway don't want to get into an argument over this as i haven't been since June. All know is the animals definately wasn't under nourished then. Obviously things have changed since

Did you even read my post? I apologised for not being clearer on the point. I feed my rabbit Iceberg lettuce because she enjoys it, but she always gets other foods which give her nutritional value. I am just making a point that it is not poisonous. Humans eat many foods which have no nutritional value on a regular basis. I am making another point that a little iceberg lettuce would be good to serve as getting the rabbits water in their systems as I already explained I had to keep telling the staff to fill their water every time I came and their waterdish was baked dry by the sun and they were so thirsty. However... I did not once see Iceberg Lettuce for sale over there when I was in the supermarkets so it is a moot point.

Good God!!! You guys are driving me MAD.
Chris is doing a good thing creating awareness of this situation over there, and all most people have done is flame him.
Well it stops here and now
I wish I had half the guts Chris has over my street cats awareness.
Don't make me lock this or delete all the bad posts here. Were is that
Icmeler spirit that we all have, we should be sticking together here and deciding on the best way forward for the ANIMALS, after all thats what this thread is for.

Not just with the imediate, problem but be told in no uncertain terms!! that the animals etc have been photographed and well documented
and we will be expecting to see the same animals "Next Year"
"In Good Condition"
OR then the trouble will realy start for him/them !!!

well i havent been up there to see but alot of the places have animals this year and also they have to have a health certificate from the vets to keep them!
a while back everyone was giving off about silvias monkey ' locked up in the cage'! i think everyone went a bit crazy with that one, people didnt even know anything about the situation and they were going mental about it! if they knew the would know it was extremly happy there, wasnt even in the cage much except from at night, during the day was out running about the restaurant on the lamps on the street and everything, now if it was being neglected and being treated badly would it not have ran away?! Also she had its health certificate from the vets, got all its health injections it needed. But no evryone went crazy without knowing anything and now its new home is a pet shop, in an even smaller cage, miserable looking because of what people 'think'!!
so the morale of my story do not judge the situation until u know the FULL story!
thanks x

With photgraghic evedence,
Andf he is prepared to go out on a limb as far as he has done,
Is he not one of the few, or indeed the only one!! who are trying to get the full story!

if you read the holiday review from 'lorr' she makes mention of the guinea pigs at waterfall too
25 Aug 2008 17:54
P>S to Above
Who issues these "health certificates" and inoculations ?
For every ,rabbit, guineapig, hamster, chicken, tortoise, etc that happen to be here now and in the future
Is it the "Farm" that looks after them in winter on the out skirts of Icmeler.
Larger animals yes but "come on"!!

sorry you mustnt have got that right, i was talking about the full story in relation to the monkey that everyone kicked up about, second thing these people are turkish they are not english please understand they have their way to do things, they get by with what they have and maybe some dont have the expert knowlege most of the people on this have! They are doing this as a tourist attraction, stop ruining their business! before any of you start talking about the way they are treating animals go and live in turkey for a while and see how hard it is to run a business and bring in money, animals are a tourist attraction, they bring money in i really dont understand how people on this have the time to pick at every little detail! yes for the bigger animals they have a health certificate, did i not say i didnt know about this situation in the waterfall? i was talking about the monkey!
sorry if anyone thinks this is in any way rude but had to be said!

The Spanish always used monkeys for tourism purposes too and to bring in money. I am glad to say this has been outlawed there now for some time.
No monkey is truly happy unless in its own environment. Sorry if this is a bit off topic but it has been mentioned already.

I dont care how hard it is to run a business. Animal neglect is inexcusable anywhere in the world. That is why there are international organisations who go out to other countries and intrervene - usually with the country in questions authorisation. I.e. I have seen that Monkey World on TV and they get full access into other countries by the goverments to remove animals frm certain situations.
"Ruining their business" - Excuse me. I am sorry for ruining their business by insinuating that they look after their animals. The fact they are turkish is of no consequence. Islam forbids the neglect of animals as much as christianity so there is no excuse when most of the country are law abiding muslims. It is hard to run businesses anywhere in the world, and most people dont compromise their morality, religion, law to do it (Although some do).
"Have the time to pick at every detail" - Come on are you serious? Some of us are genuinely interested in the welfare of animals as much as humans.
Dont lock this thread please. I genuinly feel for this and some peoples attitudes just make me sad at lack of care. At the end of the day I can understand that not everyone is an animal person, but there is no excusing neglect of life.

I am not an animal person, but do not like to see any animal harmed, but sat in that heat all day can't be right.

I have thought long and hard about this thread, and since it has caused quite severe arguments I have no choice but to end the discussion.
I am having the last word here, and I am going to say that I am severely dissapointed, angry and upset at the way so many members have flamed the poster and the intended content of this thread.
Chris I really hope you get the help for the little animals you are looking for. I shall call in and see them in Sept when I am there.

Couple of pics for anyone who dismissed the idea that these animals might not be in good condition
