We saw John Smiths in quite a few of the bars. Don't think you'll have any problem finding a selection of different beers, to be honest.

Actually I am not a big fan of the Effes they sell in this country. I do have it occasionaly, but if you try it in Icmeler you may like it better. But yes they do sell british branded beer, however because it is imported you find the price is not much different to england if only slightly cheaper.

The effes light is really nice, not as strong and not as gassy. Give them a try.

Forget the bottled Efes and drink the draught.
I found that the Efes over here doesnt taste the same as when your drinking it in the resort.
You can also get Tuborg beer.

I think the heat and the atmosphere makes it more enjoyable doesn't it Gene. It's one big anti climax when you have it over here...lol

I'm not a lager drinker usualy I like my strongbow cider. I've never trie efes but I will drink that when im there in 3 days time. If I did manage to find stongbow over there I know it will probably cost me more over there than it does here, it's expensive enough over here, which is a puzzler as its probably one of the cheapest in supermarkets and one of the most expensive in the pubs..

I have seen it over there I think it was 6 lira a pint. There own cider is nice, but I think that is about the same price so you may aswell get strongbow.

i asked for an efes light, and they didnt have any, so they recommended a MARIACHI.....its much lighter than efes, not as strong tasting, and has a bit of a lemon twist.....

cost 5 lira, but cheaper in the tansas supermarket,

beers

Miiler... Bud ..... Becks - imported so alittle dearer

but try the Efes, especially as some of the bars serve it in glasses from the freezer so it is even colder on those hot hot days.

They also sell Vole, which is less gassy than efes but in my opinion not as good. Also try a 1.5 ltr called venus( 3.5% proof) this was recommended by the local supermarket owner. ( comes in a plastic bottle )
The supermarket in question is across from Sylvias in the older part of town adjacent to the telephone boxes.
Also if you like red wine there's a bottle (1.5 litre ) for 6.5 lira, its not too bad either. There's alot of price increases especially for wine and this is a very good deal. This is from the same supermarket as mentioned above.
He has a better selection than tansas and is a lot cheaper!

We just got back yesterday. Out of our party of 12, only 1 liked Efes. The rest of us find it too gassy and after prolonged drinking it tends to make you feel very bloated. We all started drinking bottles of Fosters, but they are not cheap - 5 to 7 lira depending on where you drink, and they are only 1/2 pint bottles. We also found bottles of Millers, becks, bud, guiness etc, but again quite pricey.

A new Turkish beer has cropped up this year called Mariachi. They sold it in our pool bar and also the supermarkets. Its really nice tastes a bit like a lager top but you can taste the lemon in it. Is a bit more expensive than Efes but worth it. I think Karen on here has also commented on it.
