types of holiday makers?

thankfully this is something i've never really experienced in icmeler but have certainly seen loads of behaviour by brits to make me cringe in majorca, the canaries and some greek resorts.

what makes icmeler tick is that most people seem to get on well no matter where they come from.

unfortunately if the time comes when icmeler is popular with large groups of lads and lassies who think they have the right to treat the resort and the locals with total disrespect that's when the rot will kick in.

i know it's not just restricted to the young ones either and we were close to experiencing it a couple of years ago when two families arrived with their teenage daughters and their friends and they looked like rejects from the jeremy kyle show....drinking all day(which is ok if you can handle drink), shouting and swearing and generally making complete twits of themselves(adults and kids) around the pool and spoiling what had been a nice atmosphere.

luckily, we only had a couple of days of our hols left which was just as well cos i think i might have flipped.

I have been to Icmeler twice with my son, this year he was 16, we go in late june as i have to watch the pennies. I have never come across any trouble which is 1 of the reasons we returned again this year. I found it very refreshing to walk back along the prom and not encounter any groups,which can be intimidating. Everyone was lovely at our hotel(l,etoile)(i,ll get a smacked wrist for writing that:) I do hope its not changing for the worse as my son(even at his age) and i love the quietness and the layed back approach of icmeler. The police seem to be on top of most things there so if it is going that way lets hope they put a stop to it.

I've not long returned from a holiday with a friend, we are both mid twenties and were there for relaxation and a bit of a party.
I must say that the embarassing moments we experienced were not as a result of young people but of families who looked like stand ins for the Gallaghers on shameless! i must say this was few and far between.

We'll stick mostly to the old village in any case as Mrs. Weetoony rarely ventures beyond the Love Boat, I can never understand why

two years ago in marmaris. we had the misfortune to be in the same hotel as the family from hell.this family thought it was funny when their offspring intimidated and bullied the other children.thought it was hilarious when the fourteen year old daughter was so drunk she was sick passed out and left to lie in it for an hour.but the best bit was the nightly singsong at two in the morning for the benefit of the other guests.to say they had the manners of pigs would insult the pigs.we left and moved to icmeler where we should have went in the first place.all i am looking for from the other guests in my hotel is a bit of consideration.

This July was the first time that witnessed any trouble in Icmeler and it was between a mother and daughter who were having a good slap at each other in the middle of the road outside Taj Mahal!! It got that bad that my brother had to go and split them up : They were both very drunk and the mother was screaming at the girl that she was only 14!! Anyway some people wont accept help and a couple of minutes later the police had pulled over and were having a very stern word with them, we just walked away as we had tried to help

Some people just dont have any dignity Unfortunately I think that some are quite happy to make a show of themselves and obviously have no respect whatsoever for others.

We were subjected to a typical 'chav' family in 2006 when we were on a boat trip. They just shouted and yelled at each other all day long.... we named them Bev 'n Kev, with kids Wayne and Waynetta (apologies for any Beverley's and Kevins reading this ) They just need to draw attention to themselves for some reason

Never seen any trouble in Icmeler but have seen it in Cyprus a number of years ago there was only one warning after that the police were called and they were deported british I may add, and last year we went to Lloret del mar a large group of rugby players or supporters arrived they had only been there a number of hours drunk pretty early and gave the staff at our hotel abuse the police were called and a number of them were deported and this is how it should be with the police waiting in this country and being charged with bringing the country into disrepute.

I, my wife . and daughter were in icmeler first two weeks in july . we were also there last october we find that if you go early or later in the year its better than going high season.
Lets face it folks the minority of brits cant behave them selfs,but we all get tard with the same brush S**M bag brits.

We were unfortunate enough to have the Family from Hell staying at our Hotel in Mid May this year.

Kids running around and screaming like banshees, Parents, p**** up all the time, the Step Dad, touched up the belly dancer, belted the Mother, and got arrested, even the little toddler, pelted his bottle off of an interior balcony, and it missed some old guy by inches.

Absolute Scum, I never thought scrats like this would ever be allowed to leave the country, but I suppose its us hard working taxpayers that are funding them to go abroad, as he looked like he has never worked a day in his life.

I thought these types were restricted to going to H***n Caravan parks (not that there is anything wrong with them)

We got back from Icmeler yesterday and had the best holiday ever. Unfortunately for the first time we saw bad behaviour and each time it was Brits. A group of middle age women in Romance restaurant were really drunk and sat at the bar, being very loud and making it obvious what they were after with the Turkish waiters. The poor lads were getting grabbed every time they walked past and the people sat eating were just cringing, even the waiters looked embarassed. When the women didn't get the attention they wanted from the men they moved on.
We also noticed that there were a large number of young under age kids out on their own at night, about 14 years old to about 17. Two lads in particular who were staying near us and we heard them telling someone on the dolmus that they were 15. They were always very drunk, one time at the dolmus stop one of them urinated in the street. We saw them try to pick a fight one night with a lad who stopped to ask directions. On our last day we saw them again and they both has black eyes and cuts and bruises. I don't know the legal drinking age in Turkey.

We had some swedes in our aparts 2 middle aged mothers and their kids first coulpe of nights were ok then the banging and crashing about started when they came in 3-3.30.The first time you let it go because everyone has a blowout on holiday but the next time it happened we shout up to them and told them to shut as people were trying to sleep,that seemed to work.On our last night they came drunk again the mothers were as bad as the 15/16 kids again told them to shut which worked but in the morning we discovered one the had threw up all over one of our towels which we were drying and it was all over our balcony I was ready to go and kick some a*** but my wife and the owner calmed me down.The owner called the mother into his office and spoke to her she came out in tears don`t know what he said to her,he told me he had sorted it out.We had to wash the towel and dry it washed the balcony down all on our last day when all you want to do is chill ready for coming home.The swedes came round the pool area in the afternoon looking sheepish and then this turkish bloke pulled up in a car ran over to where they were lying and started ranting and raving at them over something that happened in a bar the night before.What really angered me was the fact the the 2 women never said sorry for all the trouble to me,the owner,the barman or the other people in the apartments.I think the owner would have been well within in his rights to throw them out.Anyway glad that`s off my chest it`s not put us off going back but bad behaviour want`s clamping down on before it get`s out of hand

I'm pleased they got what was comeing to them. I am not a violent person, but some people deserve a good smack .

we also had the nighbour from hell above us in the apartments......clattering high heel shoes at 3/4am...load voices. dropping things on the floor....

and as there wasnt alot for teenagers to do, they tended to sit on the sun loungers chatting......which was fine......till you got the ones that had too much alchol, and were getting frisky and loud.......where were the parents????

Most hotels/apartments have some form of night security surely they should be clamping down on noisemakers,and if after a couple of warnings they don`t calm down the noise they should removed from where ever for the peace of other people.It`s like a bar getting shut down for hassling after it happens a couple of times the word gets round a they start to take notice.I don`t want to spoil anyone`s holiday but everyone has the right to a quiete nights sleep.,

We have to agree with everything that has been said. We have been going to Icmeler for 20 years and always try, if we can, to stay in small family run apartments where other nationalities stay, (usually Turkish). Unfortunately you only need one family to spoil your holiday. We had the two boys of about 11 and 12 years old playing ball in the pool, kicking it not throwing and once you're spashed on the sunbed and they see you're not pleased they do it all the more. You don't want to make a scene and think one of the parents will say something, but they don't and you have to lay there and just about grind your teeth down to the gum trying not to explode and say something you'll regret. We know quite a few local people who have either a Hotel or restaurant and they have had enough of the Brits and are now renting out their rooms on long term let or renting their restaurants out so they have nothing to do with the holiday makers. It's so sad, they have built this resort up, all the time catering for our wants and needs and this is how they are repayed. They are reluctant to throw people out as they are all after the business and can't afford to be choosy.

Not Icmeler but a number of years ago we went on Holiday for our Anniversary after a day or 2 we could hear the TV from next door so after a couple of hours I knocked and they were a couple in there 40s and asked politely if they could lower it they were most apologetic and lowered the TV,a couple of days later the apartment on the other side we could hear shouting and laughter at 4am didn't say anything but then it happened all the next day so I knocked and asked politely if they could keep the noise down,all they said was why they were on holiday and would make as much noise as they wanted it wasn't till then I found out there was a gang of them about 14 most were teens up to 20 couldn't even report them as they would have known it was me so if it ever happens again I would just go to reception and report the noise and most resorts now have a zero tolerance on noise and trouble makers we have seen quite a few being deported for acting unruly in the hotels and apartments the young ones today think they can act abroad as they do in the U.K. but are getting a shock when the police turn up once they are called you will be lucky if you are not deported.

All this talk about rowdy holiday makers keeping people awake at night in the appts where they are staying got me thinking.
The police are clamping down on music etc being played after 12pm in the bars because people are kept awake.
Surely the hotels etc have a duty to keep these rowdy people from spoiling other peoples hols and should deal promptly with any complaints because in the long run it will be them that suffer because people will stop going to Icmeler
