Its alright laughing but the holiday market in Turkey is in trouble.
When we went to Turkey in 97 the rate was something like 2500000 lira to the £ drinks were roughly about 20/40 pence for a beer and shorts not much dearer snacks were about 50p to a £1 meals were about £3 an equivalent cost in this country was about £1.20/40 for a beer shorts about the same pub meals were about £2 to £4 todays prices in general terms in this country beer would have to cost about £6 to £7 shorts about £10 to £12 meals would still be on par with Turkey.
If you think I am wrong work it out for yourself.
and these prices go on the exchange rate we had in June/July the way the exchange rate is going now these prices will escalate substantially in the days to come and Turkey will price itself out of the holiday market I am sorry to say.

Hi Geovil
Your very good point taken on board regard prices, but its the international money market we are up against at the moment the pound is weak, and over the years the Turkish economy has been thriving
In other words the "Pound is on its A----!!,

The UK went thru the same fate 20 years ago but inflation and price rises did not hike up like it is in Turkey it is not just drink that was just an example you notice right away fuel prices in Turkey are higher than here it does not just hit the tourists it is the Turkish people sooner or later the economy will stabilise what will Turkey do then it will not be able to drop the prices a short term fix by increasing import tax is a one off.
